Hi dr_priyanka11, Are you planning on having a tile backsplash or glass or acrylic? Is your kitchen more contemporary or traditional? As green can be quite a bold colour I feel its best to have white or light coloured cabinets to allow the splash back to be the focal point in the room. However, one of the pictures below displays a green splash back and dark brown cabinets, so it really depends on what style your kitchen will be and what shade of green you would like to use. Below are some examples of green splash backs and different cabinet and countertop colours and materials.

Hi All, It sounds like tumeric and grease are the worst culprits for staining. We are looking to put the Cloudburst in our kitchen as our island and backsplash, but I'm very nervous. I love to cook and host. I also LOVE the look of this stone and would like to make it work if we can. Are there any bakers on this thread that have experience with these countertops? If you are rolling out dough or baking with greasy dough, how has that experience been? What if you get butter/oil on it? Any tips? Do you cover the counter before doing your baking etc.? I imagine beet juice would also be a nightmare?

Oh this project grows. I’m thinking the kitchen/laundry access is probably worthwhile (light, access, etc). I’m liking the more contemporary layouts, compared to the u version that I liked at an earlier date. Siriuskey your comments about that version being too wide were important. (I eventually remembered design issues with my mum’s last kitchen which was a u and too wide and while it felt spacious, it was a bit ‘not quite right’). oklouises’ wed 5.26pm (2nd option) is probably my preferred option at this stage. I think that would be functional and satisfies my wish list pretty well. Layout and furnishing the greater space is still on the go. I must say, I’ve found everyone’s input with this project so creative and helpful.

Do you want a hanging rail for your kids , or a hanging rail for your kid's use ? Hahaha . Just at a glance , it seems a strange project -- you will end up with a huge wash-house , AND a seperate mud-room . And the laundry will be relatively dark , although I assume you are going to change the door to a couple of windows and a partial wall or similar ? I would have imagined you'd have an external door in the far wall and/or back wall , and a window on the back wall and/or far wall ? THEN you could have done a smaller laundry , and put a ranch slider in the front and had an office , or another bedroom , or higher windows and put a spa pool there . But a 6 metre by 5 metre laundry , and a mudroom that is say 2 x 2 1 /2 , seems unusual . I know that doesn't help your $15k quote , just an observation -- I'd spend more and get way more , or do almost nothing . I know re-sale is less of a consideration with a farmhouse , but thats the way you still think -- will it give value to me , and the next owner ?
