From the information posted it does look like air gap E is missing from the installation. Was your installer recommended by Euromaid or the retailer where you purchased the cooktop? I would do an internet search or ask Euromaid for a recommendation for a qualified installer in your area and get a second opinion. All appliance instructions require installation as per their requirements for the warranty to apply. You can also seek advice from the Consumer Affairs organisation in your State.

Thanks bigreader. Yes, it looks like air gap E. However, all kitcher cabinet is similar. We've never ever seen there is a gap between any benchtop and cabinet door. Our installer also say the same. I've asked Euromaid questions and advise. Euromaid simply ignore my email, and they were rude over the phone. Having said that, everytime I call Glen Dimplex (euromaid), there is a long wait time. We are stucked with a failed Euromaid induction cooktop.

Have you purchased any other appliances since last Thursday which are turned on when you are using the induction cooktop. The RCD switch will monitor if the power is overloaded, and trip the switchboard. It may not be the actual induction cooktop but something else plugged in at the same time and overloading your power supply. Get an electrician to check your power supply and ensure that everything is okay with the amount of appliances, TV, dishwasher, phones, etc etc and not overloaded. If all okay, then pursue a euromaid technician.

Check the power on the extractor fan also. Eliminate everything else first.

Thanks. I've checked with our electrician. The cooktop comes with its own independent switch in the switchboard. Its unlikely was causing by other appliance or electrical items. And we have upgraded the cable before the cooktop installation. We have been happily using the cooktop for 4 months. Now we only want Euromaid to honour their warranty but thats seems not an options as they try very hard to blame no the installation. And the problem is we don't know how we can get the installation right

Ok. Let’s be straight. It’s not a warranty issue. It’s an installation issue. Euromaid are not responsible for an installation you organised. If you’re ready to accept that we can suggest some work arounds. ie. Take off one of the cabinet doors (temporarily) and see if the cooktop works without cutting out.

We leave the door open but nothing works. If its an installation issue, I really have never seen a gap between bench top and cabinet door in any showroom. Trust me, the euromaid or glen dimplex aftersales team is extremely horrible to deal with. Simply google glen dimplex australia and read those google reviews. There are plenty of unhappy customers. Anyway, back to my case, if anyone can show a photo with the right way of installation (similar to my kitchen set up), that will be extremely helpful. Thanks

Hello KKA4Eddie, you really need to first determine what is causing the breaker to trip. It may be the cooktop is damaged but there are several other reasons why this could be happening. You could have a short in the line, which could be due to vermin chewing the cable, or due to someone having accidentally putting a nail through the cable when hanging a picture or the like. It could be happening because a connector has come loose in the J-Box or at the Isolator switch or at the breaker or any one of several other causes. Now that you have spoken to Euro and you know your Cooktop is not installed properly and you have spoken to your original Electrician; I suggest that you next get a new Electrician in to test your circuit to determine if it is the line that is faulty or if the cooktop is now faulty. Once you know what is causing this, you will then be able to address how to fix the problem.

Dont assume you know what is causing the issue, as Malcolm said. If you are based in Sydney call Ausgrid first, they will come out and assess whether it's their network problem or an appliance, they will conduct testing to determine where the failure is.  It sounds like it's your appliance but worth getting confirmation by the electricity supplier electrician. My hubby does this for a living.
