We've ended up choosing Yokor Windows & Doors. They're a Chinese import company with very high quality product. A builder friend of mine recommend him who used them in his own house. We are yet to order though. They were about 8k cheaper than The other company we were tossing up between. The only issue i don't like their flyscreen product so we'll get that from someone else.

Hi Suzanne The panelling in Perth is usually done with (believe it or not) Cedar panels / planks which are then prepped and painted. Most of the high end work is done this way. You can do it in MDF however and any good chippie will make it work. We recently restored a 100 year home in a Hamptons Style home and all of the stair well panels were cedar also. The second storey panelling we did had to be fabricated in MDF to get the detailed sizes and other than the dents in the old (from many years of enthusiastic use) you can't tell the difference. For skirting, a lot of the profiles are made up as one offs by builders that are used as a kind of signature. The same with doors. We made new solid doors to match the old at a timber joiner. The skirting and door profiles are usually made up by executive doors and mouldings in Malaga. They have a good range for you to start with as does Subiaco Restorations in Osborne Park. Cheers

CP, showed those ones to hubby...wasn't keen, he felt they weren't going to be comfortable for lengthy stints at the dining table. Afjp, think the timber colour won't blend very well with the silky oak of our table. Just me -- that's a No ! As it is shown there , its too much , too tacky . On an island , if it was maybe the 'front' it could be okay , or something like a built-in cutting board might look cool ( as it is presumably a manufactured stone , I have no idea how it would be practical-wise ? ) . That whole kitchen doesn't inspire me much -- its too mixed up IMO . Mostly black and white , but with stainless , some timber which is the wrong tone , again IMO -- not consistent .
