Adding a slide door in ground floor hallway to keep the AC in living

Have you added any slide door in ground floor hallway (1100mm wide) to keep the AC within living areas (family, dining & kitchen) to avoid the AC airflow passing to First floor thru staircase as marked in red line above?
anyone did like this please share your experience.
Air comes out in each room vent, and returns through a return duct, usually a large panel in the upstairs ceiling with a dust filter i think. The system recycles the air as it is more efficient than heating or cooling outside air.
if this filter is in ceiling of stairs then adding a door will block the air recycling right. if yes then i am not supposed to add door in hallway please advise whether my understanding is correct
