i would try to change the bed position to opposite the mirror, even though it would be tight at the end, the doors slide so it would still be easily accessible, and take advantage of the widest partof the room. I would install hanging pendant lights to allow you interesting and practical nit light,it will make the space more adult, add your personality without needing bedsides etc. If possible, make space in your robe by clever storage inserts, and put your chest of drawers in the wardrobe. The wall which is white I would put in horizontal panelling board, which is cheap enough and easy to do, construction adhesive such as liquid nails will bond it, and paint it a dark grey so when you walk in your eye is drawn into the room making it feel wider. Also in this wall wall mount your tv and place a small chair in the corner doesn't have to be an armchair,it may even be a colour dipped stool, just somewhere to sit when you put your shoes on or charge your phone, have a ase of flowers occasionally. Lately the bedhead wall, as it's reflected in the mirror, a beautiful oversized piece of art, in a square timber frame, like something on the block, bright or bold, and abstract. With your lights on at night, your Telly off the floor, and no clutter,your bed will take centre stage. Yu can dress it up according t your mood, and invest in luxury linens, they will be the one thing you take when you eventually fly the coop. And you'll thank yourself for the best thing in your space, a place to rest and recover. Do it bit by bit so it doesn't cost you too much, gather all you need at doit in a weekend. Go for it!

If the bed that you've ordered is grey as per the photo you posted, then I would go with light grey sheers to match the bed, wall to wall & floor to ceiling and yes keep the block out blinds on the vertical windows, I fear white/wall colour sheers will take away from that beautiful wall paper you got, and pick up those neutral tones that you like, including the carpet colour, in your accessories, bed linen, throws, cushions, etc... good luck and let us know how it all turns out :)

My daughter ran her business from her bedroom until they could afford a 3 bedroom house, their 2 bedder with two boys and no where else to fit an office was a very difficult time which thankfully they all survived. Having your office in your bedroom should be avoided at all cost, as you never leave the office behind as my daughter found out. Your bedroom is where you go to relax , I certainly wouldn't give up my sanctuary for anyone, even my kids. You are there full time so it makes sense. Your house already has enough rooms, except for making a small change to allow for another bedroom albeit small next to the bathroom as per my suggestion, Both of these rooms have space for the boys to have a desk (they don't need a lot of storage being part time) The desk in the living area can be built in to hide an office. This is a low cost solution and won't damage resale value. If down the track you can afford the new deck, try to work out to fit a room underneath as a hang out (media) area for the boys. not sure about WA but rooms like these in some states can have ceiling height at 2100, depends on what name!! you give them. My son is in a similar situation to you, except he now lives in a Studio Apartment in Sydney, so when he has his two kids 50 50 they make do in that space and seem to manage very well.

I've attached the existing plan of the bedroom / study (the study was classed as a bedroom in the selling of the property as opposed to a study) and also the plans from the designer. The large window in bedroom bisects the stud wall of the rework and so I'm not sure if much can be done to make it look natural as if it belongs there hence I am thinking to brick it up and centre it around the toilet position? I will not be touching the lintel at all so structurally I wont affect anything and I am thinking I can tie the bricks to the existing brickwork Many thanks for the comment regarding Laura's treatments. I work away a lot and so her second daughter is moving in as she wants to be close to her. Daughter 1 stays with us and things are fractious between 1&2 and so it's all about creating their own areas. I also think it will add value to the house as neither the bedroom and especially the "study" are very spacious. Also for a relatively big house there is a toilet in the master ensuite and the only other toilet is in the laundry so it's not ideal. A future project might be to swap the laundry and the bathroom around Thanks again for the comments - extremely useful info....!!
