Bath shower combo

I'm trying to reno a really skinny main bath, 2840 X 1780, can't move the toilet because it's a concrete slab and too expensive, but don't know how to create extra space, is a bath/shower combo off-putting for buyers? Or does anyone have any awesome ideas on how to create space? All other plumbing can move except toilet as septic is too hard

I have a bath shower combo and it works fine. Given you have other bathrooms on the house it is unlikely to put off future buyers. Are you flipping for profit? If you’re going to be there for a while have what suits you and your family.

I do bathrooms every day of the week and I can tell you now that, If you really want a bath in that space and shower just do a shower over bath I noticed your shower was 800mm wide this is to small for a shower 900mm minimum. Forget the bifold doors put in a cavity slider or if this is not possible do a face of wall sliding door on the out side of the bathroom. If you really really want separate bath & shower move the toilet into the laundry. Get an 1800mm deep soaker bath and run it along the 2000mm wall run your shower along the 2100mm wall opposite the vanity. I take it your on a timber floor not a slab as moving a toilet on a slab can get costly.

Thanks oklouise. I love your ideas and the ensuite layout is great. However, I don't think I made my dimensions clear enough and I don't think the rest of your design can work Bed 1 - 3600 X 3600 Bed 2 - 3700 X 3000 Current bathroom - 1960 X 2600 Current laundry - 1820 X 2600 Current toilet - 1340 X 1100 So if we keep the current bed 1 and bathroom space and convert that bathroom to the ensuite, that leaves approx 3200 X 2600 for the bathroom/toilet/laundry. Ideally we would leave the current windows ( a 1000x1100mm sash window 1200mm from the floor in the laundry area) and a high (550x700mm window in the toilet area) which makes juggling the space a bit challenging. For storage, I used a mirrored lift up cupboard door above the sink area in my very small ensuite with some success. We put power points inside the cupboard too - it was a very good place to have them as the door lifts up & is out of the way. I also used some of the wall space to allow slightly deeper shelves, without the cupboard jutting so far into the room. The cistern was recessed into the wall cavity, (in our case below the window) & it worked well to save a little space in the room. Photos are not very good, but I hope you can get the idea.. It worked very well. The ensuite was 1mx2m. We use vertical towel rails. They're really good & very compact, but do make sure the electrician installs them up the right way. They work on the heat rising principal & do not work well upside down as ours were installed!Hope this is helpful. Good luck.

I think removing that oversized bath shower combo would be a positive. Do you have a laundry trough? Any babies can be washed with a baby bath in the trough, then from standing age they can have a shower, with a parent. So if there is a young family in the town house, they can adapt to not having a bath. The 1900mm is a good length for a double vanity. Install drawers in vanity and overhead mirrored cabinet on the wall. Make sure you run the shower along the entire 2000mm wall. You will need a 1200mm glass shower screen, and leave 800mm for walk in. Any smaller than the 1200mm shower screen, you may find there is water spray over the floor, which is annoying and dangerous.

Combine bath and shower to get a decent vanity space, While it is not ideal totally acceptable. I note it looks like doorway ' into laundry should be centred in wall so it is opp external door to remove wasteful dogleg

Thanks Kate, yes we are planning to move that door and create a linen cupboard in the existing doorway!

Given the space constraints, and the fact there are two other bathrooms, a shower over bath seems like the sensible option here. As a family home, you would expect that children / teenagers would use this bathroom, and they should cope fine!
