AE3+ Aeratron DC Ceiling Fan is great - silent!

For bedrooms, I think how quiet they are and how much air they move really matters. I hate noisy fans that can’t be set to a low speed at bedtime.

Additionally, how you control the fan is important to me. It can be difficult to operate the fan if the remote function is not very accessible or the buttons can’t be seen or felt easily at night.

Choice (www.choice.com.au) reviewed ceiling fans and has recommendations for different rooms.

I installed the Mercator DC Instinct 3-blade fan they recommended for my bedroom size and I am pleased with its operation, except for the remote. The remote is very slim and the control buttons on it are small and hard to see and feel. We have gradually learnt to use it successfully without turning on the bedside light.

I bought an extra remote so my husband and I could each turn the fan off or on during the night if need be, without getting out of bed. I ordered it through Bunnings special orders.

I had looked at the below 3 blade models, all wo lights, all about 1320mm and pushing 10,486 - 13,743 m3/hr )I note the Mercator DC Instinct is only 8990m3/hr, though I am not sure how much air you need.

One other point of difference the Lucci Home Brand of Beacon has is so called WIND whereby the fan speed cycles from 1 Low to 6 Full speed, I did lie briefly at another house with a Lucci fan, not the Whitehaven, but not sure if its good or not. When I have my window open to the breeze, I dont mind the various intensity changes of the night wind so maybe its worth it. Seems to only be a Lucci function though ?

I am very happy with our Mercator Trinidad (I think that is the model). It is designed for a low ceiling so doesn't hang down too much and is very minimalist. We had an issue with the remote after my mother-in-law stayed in our house (goodness knows what she did to it) and the customer service from Mercator was outstanding. Ours has 10 speeds and is super quiet so I can highly recommend it.

it is quite stylish as you say. The m3 is a bit low compared to my links above which all go above 10,000 m3/hour on the top speed.

Also 6 speeds not 10?

Does it have the breeze or wind function? whereby it cycles from low to high to be like natural wind? not sure whether that function is worthwhile or not.

Ours looks exactly like the link you attached but we have had it 3-4 years now so I think the model has probably changed. It definitely has 10 speeds but I have never used it over 4. I imagine 10 would nearly lift the roof off!!! The room I have it in is a large lounge room about 6m x 8m and it does a great job. Mine does not have a breeze function and I would not use that function but it's probably a personal thing. From memory it was about $400 to buy so quite a splurge but we have not regretted it. I bought a cheaper fan for our bedroom however and have regretted that!

I can't remember and no longer living in the house so I can't check for you. There was nothing wrong with it functionally, it just wasn't as nice looking as the other one and every night I would look at it and think I should have spent that extra $200......
