Which bedroom would you love most?
Comments (18)One thing about white walls is that you can easily put a naturally transparent colour (like yellow without whit in it) over the top if it starts to feel too clinical...really hate all white, large 'antiseptic' spaces...feels a bit soul-less, makes me wonder as to the state of mind of the inhabitants...= no personality, or just being trendy or...not wanting to 'show one's colours'. Don't trust 'empty-feeling spaces'. Love your riotous colour ideas! My walls are natural timber and I would not dare paint them,,it would be almost a sin! Am inspired by mahogany stained faux panelling here and there for a more luxurious look. When I'm bored or my head is too full I watch a soapie in which the house and the office are very grand places...strangely most of the walls are stained panelling and dark timbers..so bohemian style with a touch of multimillionaire residence! YOUR BED You say you cannot find what you are looking for...do you have a picture in your mind of the bed you want or don't you know? Could be a good idea to either do a sketch or several and see where the pencil leads you or maybe draw a definite pic of your dream bed. Alternatively, write it down..:"I want a bed that has......etc", This often helps to focus your thoughts...and...I've found that putting it out there either in a sketch you keep on a wall or writing it where you will come across it often seems to "call" the desired thing to you and all of a sudden...viola' there it is when you are least expecting it. Have fun!....See MoreNeed your ideas for small master bedroom
Comments (25)I really like these [bed side tables[(https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/north-seminary-contemporary-chicago-phvw-vp~13970763) which are bespoke although too large for my room. Anything similar, but not as wide, in Australia..ideally Melbourne?...See MoreShared bedroom between two girls
Comments (14)I would definitely get them full size single beds, whichever solution you go for. You could get them each their own loft bed with heaps of storage and a desk or pullout desk underneath each. There are lots of different variants of these and some would even help to make them each feel like they have their own room or at least space. If you would like bunk beds that can still be their own single beds later, you should look into 'Bunkers' as this is their trademark. They are Australian made and all pine as well so no nasty chemicals. Pretty sure they also have the loft bed options and desks that you could put underneath. They do bunks that can go at right angles to each other with storage underneath in the corner as well so you could put the beds in the corner opposite the wardrobe and desk near the wardrobe instead of under the window if you prefer this to their own loft and desk/storage underneath:-)...See MoreCeiling joists on loft bedroom floor
Comments (5)Just at a glance , if you lower the floor joists ( which would be a big and expensive job in itself ) the downstairs would be too low ? I don't know the rules , nor how big your place is , but you may have to take out the stairs and not use upstairs ; or put walls or cupboards along the side walls to get to the 60% 'rule' ; maybe use it only as an office ? Another option may be to put wheels on your house , and claim it is a tiny house -- don't laugh , often councils are that tied up in their own rules they will have to allow it , as it will completely confuse them !...See MoreJan Dobson
