Choosing a paint colour to go with this house

Hi Houzzers,

We want to re-paint and freshen up our new place and looking for some colour advice.

The main open plan living/kitchen area has a lot of north-facing light, has a feature limestone wall on the west side and the whole house has jarrah flooring. The painter has tasked us with shortlisting some colours for her to put samples up on the wall to help us finalise a choice.

Looking for a white that would go nicely with the jarrah floors and of course that limestone, without being too yellow everywhere. Maybe I need a different colour for the south end of the house that has a long hallway with west-facing windows and another small living area near the entry and 2 minor bedrooms that all have east-facing windows.

Our painter suggested oil-based enamel for the frames and trims for looks/durability and that if we go with a tinted colour it will resist the 'yellowed' look that they get over time (rather than a 'vivid white' look). Any corroborating suggestions on this? Like a quarter-strength version of the wall colour will look good?
