Some good advice above. Centering a single, large artwork over your couch and adding tall lamps / greenery in the corner is the way to go. But there are no rules with art, and a piece that spans the full width of your sofa, especially in your space, will work much better than one that doesn't. The artwork itself is a very personal choice, but look for a piece that augments your scheme. Ours can be colour customised as you wish - this one could be a good starting point if it resonates with you

Sandy - given the width of your bed, I worry the size artwork you have chosen may look out of proportion when hung i.e. too small against your bed. My vote would be for the 140x100. If your bed is 193 wide, 75% of that width is approximately 144 so that size artwork has the potential to look the best :) The 140x100 size still allows 26.5cm of negative space on either side of your artwork to the sides of your bed with the ability to position your artwork well given the height you are working with. I'd echo most others views -- personally , I could live with the aircon and the lights , but the furniture and the mirrors would go ! Again , just personally , I don't have a problem with the mirrors sizes , it's the silver that doesn't suit . I'd go approx 20% smaller mirrors , BUT with really nice wide sculpted dark wooden frames , and lift them a bit -- they almost look like they are sitting on the mantlepieces at present -- lifting them would show more balance IMO . Lounge suite I'd go big , boxy , good quality bright red leather . A modern corner suite would probably suit , or one with a moden interpretation of a chaise , but in big boxy red leather . Or maybe a more classic looking buttoned leather suite , just not in brown -- that would be too much brown . Red or white would work well . The dining suite could be a large 8 seater wooden table in darker brown ( that mahogony one clashes to me ) , or glass top and stainless if you want to be more modern , and modern red chairs -- several styles would work , depending on what table you choose , and how modern you want to be . And for a more modern twist on the windows -- wooden slat blinds -- I have done very similar in my own 95 year old place , and it works well ! My place is similar , although it doesn't have those higher picture rails -- my place has carved rails approx 1.2mtr above the floor level , and Rimu panelling ( a NZ wood ) below that -- has that 'gentlemans club' feel . I did the walls above that in a mid steel blue in some rooms , a grape colour in others , english cream in a couple , and an earthy orangey-brown with white gloss tiles in the kitchen ! And in most rooms , I did a feature wall , wallpapered in complimentary colours to the other 3 walls in that room ! Strange sounding I know , but it works ! In the larger rooms and entrance foyer , I have large gold waterfall chandaliers , the other rooms I have gold curved light bars with 4 to 6 led spotlights -- all with crisp white ceilings similar to yours , and art deco inspired ceiling roses and architraves . Hi Carol , I hate the artwork but wonder if the colouring is way too little for the space haha ? Everything in your place is grey , beige , off-grey , off-beige , off-blue , and charcoal . So to add some excitement you get some art in grey , beige , off-grey , off-beige , off-blue and charcoal ! Three months ago I bought an original abstract picture about 1.2metres square -- a yacht under sail in heavy seas . Except it was all in brightish colours , the texture is literally knifed on . But straight away , your eyes are drawn to it , and you know exactly what it is . We know sails aren't really orange and yellow and apricot and butter -- but it portrays the fury ! The sails are actually heavy paper , screwed up , flattened , painted and glued to the canvas -- it is 3 dimensional ! I'm actually not a sailing person , but at $800 I grabbed it , and glad I did . It may not be your choice , but imagine just from my description , what something like that would add to your place . A large flower or fruitbowl if you want to be safe , a 'quality' landscape , or something that is a talking point if you are as mad as me . . . . . . . . . . and you can change it in 6 months or 6 years .
