Sorry, maybe taken back by reading all the comments, but I see that the coffee table is wooden, with the dark flooring and the lounges being a dark red, definitely you need to put a rug under the coffee table to lighten it up with a pattern including some beige or maybe a bit of mustard with red or brighter blue like on the chair around the dining table. It appears there's a mixture of older style lounge and coffee table compared to the white plant stands, something to think about as in the look you are going for.

If you want to move away from cream and other reds, maybe charcoal grey or a lighter grey? I think the gutters, etc would look nice in charcoal grey (it even looks like you may have that colour on some of the gutters already), but I would probably do the timber cladding on the second floor a lighter grey as charcoal may be a little too dark and dramatic. It looks like it should be relatively easy for you to get onto your awning, so I would try various colours on the timber cladding to see what you like (i.e. paint a 1m x 2m section, wait for it to dry and see what it looks like in different lighting).

Hi Russ, what a great house. I’d leave the windows white as was typical of the era. It gives these triple fronted houses a lightness that would be lost if you painted them in something dark like monument. It would also look like you are trying to turn the house into something that it’s not. Far better to embrace and honour the original design intent than trying to make it look contemporary as it will end up looking confusing. I’d paint the eaves and the garage door though. The cream colour is jarring. Then concentrate on landscaping. That will make a huge difference and make this house really shine.

Nice mood board, but the orange timber is much more intense than the orange in your mood board. Sage is agood starting point, rather than grey, so I would be looking at light olives and eucalyptus colours. Best of luck, Dr Retro of Dr Retro House Calls
