Need help with my living/dining room
Comments (3)Hi Ellen, No, you are not asking too much! With a well-designed piece of joinery you should be easily able to get all your needs met. To complement your Danish scheme, you just need to use the right materials & colours. Here's an example of an entertainment/storage unit I did for some clients. It serves multi-functions in a not very large space....See Moreliving room lights help needed!
Comments (12)How tall are your ceilings? They look way too low for a ceiling rose! Those chandelier things are a bit off, aren;t they?? If the house is actually modern, I think it would be better in the long run to get rid of that ceiling rose all together. It is hard to tell from the photos, but am assuming that the other lights are over the kitchen and dining area? With the ceiling fan added to the equation, you would definitely be better off replacing with LED downlights. Get a professional lighting person from Beacon in to show you the best positioning so that you get it right first time. A couple of options on the links you posted would work with your style (ie. plain round glass or a simple white dome), but be careful with options using those decorative "Edison" style filament globes, they only emit 25watts, so not bright enough for task lighting. Comments (15)Other colours that work with red are turquoise, apricot, peach, any blues, yellow, even some pinks and greens. (Look to gardens for inspiration, or Old Masters paintings). I'd find patterns with combinations of those, or Vys colours, in a rug, and chairs or cushions....See MoreWhat does WOW FACTOR mean to you?
Comments (17)I'm quite happy for my home to have 'wow' factor if it's me thinking 'wow, I love that!'. If 'wow factor' is wanting others to be 'wowed' when they walk through your door then you're probably getting caught up in the wrong factor. What we go 'wow' about in our own homes is likely to vary from person to person - for me, its about the beautiful natural light in my home, for someone else it might be the pebble shower recess they laid by hand, or their garden in spring. There are probably also home features which tend to generate approval across the board, things like soaring ceilings or bespoke features, a beautiful fireplace or amazing view come to mind here....See MoreLB Interiors
