Venetians don't really block light regardless of width of slat.

@shellsyb light will always leak around each slat so the more slats (ie: narrower size) you have the more light will come in. Timber (or faux timber) venetians have flat slats so they will let more light in than aluminium ones which are curved and close up tighter. And light also comes through the holes that the operational cords run through...hope that helps :)
