Drawing inspiration for the beauty and elegance of the home’s Italian Villa-like elements, this luxurious outdoor space by Ryan Hughes Design/Build transports family and guests to a Mediterranean retreat. Capitalizing on soaring columns and arches, the Hughes team added a unique shaped pool with an original in-pool tile design, an elevated spa, flaming fire pots, a crowning pergola/cabana, water elements and a beautiful lit water wall entry. Professional space planning made it all possible within the limited oceanfront expanse. There is no limit however to the enjoyment created through this stunning oasis fit for quiet retreats or elegant entertaining. As soon as guests enter this space they will feel they have been whisked away to the waters and wonders of an unbelievable resort.

New Moroccan Villa on the Santa Barbara Riviera, overlooking the Pacific ocean and the city. In this terra cotta and deep blue home, we used natural stone mosaics and glass mosaics, along with custom carved stone columns. Every room is colorful with deep, rich colors. In the master bath we used blue stone mosaics on the groin vaulted ceiling of the shower. All the lighting was designed and made in Marrakesh, as were many furniture pieces. The entry black and white columns are also imported from Morocco. We also designed the carved doors and had them made in Marrakesh. Cabinetry doors we designed were carved in Canada. The carved plaster molding were made especially for us, and all was shipped in a large container (just before covid-19 hit the shipping world!) This front yard is a mixture of colorful drought tolerant plants, edible citrus and flagstone. The local wildlife love being able to eat here and the homeowners love coming out in the morning with a hot cup of coffee. This 14,000sf estate sits on four acres in Montecito overlooking the green rolling hills and ocean beyond. This architectural style was inspired by the villas around Lake Como in northern Italy. The formal central part of the home contains the formal rooms, while the less formal areas are reflected in simpler detailing, more rustic materials, and more irregular building forms. The property terraces towards the view and includes a koi pond, pool with cabana, greenhouse, bocce court, and a small vineyard.
