Hi Deco Everything that I have collected part from the dining set which was an investment has been from garage sales. So I am quite happy to part with everything... I think the most expensive was $10.00. My problem is that I cant focus because you are right. I just have too much going on in different styles. Going with the style of the dining table - where do you think I should head with rug choices from everything I am reading - it says I should zone out the room?? I am staying away from leather couches and heading towards a cotton fabric. I really just want the space to be comfortable. Thanks for the tip about the ideabook. I've been collecting here and then, but mainly watching how people solve their dilemmas. I look but don't comment much.

A similar thing happened to me - a bottle of hand sanitiser exploded in my black leather bag whilst it was laying on my brand new cream leather car seats!!! Soaked through and transferred the black dye from my bag onto the seat, leaving a massive black stain. I tried to remove it gently with leather cleaner, only to find the more I scrubbed, the more I took the cream colour off and started to damage the actual leather of the seat. In the end I took my car to a furniture upholstery place and they colour matched the leather and sprayed the area that was damaged. It looks great now. If you look REALLY hard, you can still see where I took some of the grain out of the leather (too much scrubbing), but otherwise you wouldn't notice - best of all it didn't cost the Earth. I think a small area like what is on your chairs would come up nicely - it would probably cover the ink stains too. I think it's worthwhile getting the job done professionally. Good luck!

Are you combining a good way of sitting with a good design? If yes, arm rests are nice, when a dinner takes longer than 1 hr or so. It helps if there is a cushion available that people want to use where the back of the chair is rounded (and people prefer to sit upright). Under no circumstance should the seat slope backwards. The sitting level should be flat - no slope. The cushion can carry a lot of design and colour suitable to the environment. I love simple chairs .... and it helps not to put too many chairs around the table.... (unless you have a big family), have two chairs against the wall somewhere close. Sit on chairs before you buy them. (And a personal thing: I LOVE different chairs. Never more than a pair of 1 design) - like in the picture with the2 green armchairs and the bench. That is just great and suits different situations and guests. (To siriuskey...... I would sit on the bench)

Hi anzella, loving the new table and chairs, because you live in North QLD I wouldn't worry about a rug under the table, apart from you climate I find rugs under tables can become very annoying . If however you do decide to have one down the track, Sisal Rugs are great for your climate, you can even make your own to whatever size by buying the sisal and edging it yourself or getting a carpet place to overlock the edges.
