I have a large TV flat screen attached to the wall. I want to get rid of the cabinet in this picture and am thinking of purchasing two azure coloured cabinets to put either side of the TV. Would this work?
Hi Frankstar, I think that the Tv will look ungrounded with two vertical pieces beside and nothing underneath. It will primal need a hirizontal element underneath- even if it is very low.
I agree with the above. I think the TV will look a little odd with two tall cabinets on either side and nothing underneath. Also, where would you store/hide the DVD player, stereo, cords and whatever other bits and bobs you have for the TV? What were you hoping to achieve with the cabinets? Did you want space to display collectibles? Did you want to introduce the azure colour into the room?
I agree with all of the above, and am thinking that any unit underneath needs to "balance" visually, meaning a longer unit (sorry) with interesting articles/objects atop. Have a play with various existing favourites e.g. Books, containers, vintage/modern articles or plants in a container. In other words, an interesting focus.
I would have a wall mounted unit (similar to what you have) rather than one sitting on the floor. Might mean having the TV a little higher, would need to play that by ear. Depending what the rest of your decor looks like, maybe the new unit could be a nice mid colour timber.
