drawstrings are inside the track and don't need different curtains: simple pleats made with pinch pleat tape and prong hooks should be good with linen and, if your ceilings are higher than 2.4 m you could try hanging the track about 1/3 of the distance from the top of the window architrave to the ceilings eg if the ceilings are 2.7m high the door/window architrave would usually be about 2.1m above the floor leaving about 60 cms from top of architrave to the ceiling so hang the tracks about 1/3 x 60 cms ie 20 cms above the top of the architrave...that should allow quite a bit of saving in the material required and look much better than hung fromm the architrave and, depending on how wide the windows are, make sure the track and curtains are wider than the window so that the curtain can pull to the side to "stack back" and expose the whole door and window ie if the window/doors are 2m wide then try and allow at least 45cm-60cms on each side... btw despite understanding how the curtains are made and having made the effort many times i was very happy to have my latest curtains and tracks supplied and installed by Spotlight and by taking advantage of their regular sales i had the whole job finished for only about 10% above the cost of doing all that work myself!

Apparently it isn’t too late. Even with plaster up there is a forester product which is easily installed. An 18mm channel is cut along the plaster. An mdf board inserted and the track attached to it. All is recessed. Probably easier to be done before plaster is up so that the plasterer just allows for the gap without cutting later. The Oslo series 70 track works the same way. I’ve discovered many curtain and interior design places in Melbourne offer this kind of track and will help with choosing the curtains etc.

please clarify the size of the windows and sliding doors.. your post says window is 160 x 66? and what are you aiming to achieve...we need to see floor plans and photos of the existing space to understand the problem better...will the curtain over the window be full length to match the sliding doors is the sliding door and window next to each other, separated by a section of wall or on different walls and do you want the curtains to block light or views or? and what sort of windows are they.. double hung, awning, sliding?? if there is a spearte window with as eparte patterned curtain and you want to increase black out property and keep easy access to ethe window i would widen the track and curtain as much as possible to make to make it wider than the window and add a separate lining curtain that can be hung off the same hooks as the patterned curtains

so much better to hang them as high as possible but first confirm the length of curtain in your budget and then it's possible to choose hooks that hang lower or higher to suit the track and available height
