I'd go with his choice, because even if it wasn't 'my' style, I'd rather feel like he's taking an interest and equally invested in our home together. Plus, if I'm being completely honest, I think his taste is probably better than mine. ;) He rarely has an opinion on anything house-related, so when he puts his foot down, I go along with it: and on each occasion, it's been exactly the right decision. Example: I wanted the whole house painted out in ecru and antique white because it looks awesome with oak floors and I'm kind of a minimalist. Hubby insisted on painting the lounge room in yellow. YELLOW. I thought he'd lost his mind... but I went with it, because I get my way 99.9% of the time, so why quibble about the 0.1%? He insisted that 'in Winter, you'll be glad we have this warm, cozy colour'. And you know what? Every Winter, I love that room. It's an odd duck compared to the rest of the house, but damned if it doesn't actually work surprisingly well. It'd definitely be too much to take as a house-wide theme - but contained as it is, it's pretty great.

Hi Kris, I currently have a painting that highlights the green and warm greys that are in your room. I think it would go nicely and complement the stone feel of the lamps too! Alternatively if you like the harder finish you could go for a bold black and minimalist white line work piece with a muted toned feature colour. Hi Zac, If the tiles are grey then that sounds even better as I thought there was a little too much going on colour wise. It is so hard to tell by a photo sometimes. It would be a shame to change the coffee table, perhaps something organic on it like a wooden bowl or similar would help a little. You need to tie the dining table in somehow because the two rooms for now look like two different homes. The dining table has a country theme whilst your living area looks ultra modern. I see you have a lovely cane basket with a plant in it next to the console table, that sort of thing will help tie the rooms together. I could be wrong but you might find it easier to get a beautiful glossy black or white dining table as it would go with the rest of your decor but then you'd have to cover or paint the bench seat. Hi Sarah, hope you enjoyed your travels last night, that's something we have spent our lives doing plus living in different countries. Do look into the attic room/s they are lovely and the Velux skylights very unobtrusive, look great and if positioned correctly take care of venting any hot air, as I mentioned ours were pivoting ones and could be locked open in several positions. I much prefer these to dormer windows, you don't really notice them. The stairs were built off site and lifted into position and installed, built in. At the time we did ours a very good friend a builder did the same but just completely opened the whole ceiling space right out towards the gutters into a large bedroom play study area for his daughters, also using Velux windows. Glass ceilings, like Velux windows have been around for years, believe me I know, we're both getting older. Velux windows can be used as glass ceilings in opening and non opening configurations. I would love to see you keep the outdoor loo as well and updating the old shed into a new connecting space to the house, perhaps a glass breezeway. I will have another look at your plan again over the weekend. I love your front iron gate as well, auto sliding driveway gates work really well and would really fit with your carport. My brother in law put in a tall timber sliding gate at his last home, lovely cheers
