Oh wow!!! Grover you are amazing, seriously amazing!!! Im in love with the white walls, everything just pops....but there is a small problem. The painting doesnt fit on the smaller wall, its far too big :( I had Jenns place saved on my ipad few months ago :) :) and I do like the wide white borders too. Thanks ladies, I've attached the measurements of the room. That big open space is where it opens up to the dining/ kitchen area, it's all very open plan. I like the idea about the canvas and paints, that could be fun. Marsha, which way would you suggest angling the couch? Facing towards the opening, or the back towards the opening? I could put the console possibly in the blank wall next to the tv unit as there is nothing there, although I do like the idea of a kids table and chairs, but maybe I could hide that beside:behind the lounge. Could anyone show me examples of some fabric they think would look good for cushions, bright but still grown up? Thanks so much ladies :)

Find a university with a furniture design program, reach out to them, supply the lumber, and commission one to be made. They get to show it in their portfolio, you get to keep it, while providing money and experience to someone in your community...

It is an awkward space for sure. I think the Xmas tree arrangement is best. I’d add sofa tables to bring the furniture off the walls and to give you somewhere kid friendly to rest a drink. Then maybe layer a colourful rug over the existing rug to add colour and give a focal point in the absence of a coffee table.
