Comments (10)Thank you so much everyone for all the fantastic ideas. I'm glad I posted here. Your pictures all look amazing too. I never considered a mirrored cabinet at first - I didn't think they looked as sophisticated! But the drawers just don't provide enough storage and I think I will go with that - it will satisfy my desire for a large mirror too! I love the "round the corner" idea for getting a good view of my hair dos! Thanks again everyone :-)...See MoreDoor width for shaving / medicine cabinet?
Comments (11)I guess regardless of whether it is a single 1800 (4 door) or 2 x 900mm (2 door) the issue of the doors banging is an issue. but the 2 sinks are at one end so i can't ever imagine doors banging will be an issue really. my main concern is whether 600mm is too big for a single door (and the need to step back out of the way when opening the door)...See MoreAre windows in shower area feasible to give more light to ensuite.
Comments (26)Thanks once again oklouise for your comments. I have already been told by the draughtsman that I cannot put in skylights. No idea if this is true but he seemed quite sure and it was he who 'designed' the layout of said ensuite with what I consider a too small window because of ease of plumbing and drainage. He says that can be changed...............Supposedly only put like that to get the oversize plan in fir consent. This department is only interested in the outside view and the effect on the neighbours, which I actually dont have any. The positioning of the ensuite and WiR has changed too from the first plan as I had to come 'out' of my bedroom into a corridor past the WiR door and then into the ensuite. Technically they were both in my bedroom as had not entered the hallway but did not seem like it. So the wall you have now suggested for the door is a small lobby to the bedroom and I had planned to put furniture on it and a full length mirror. I will now look again at the whole space with three zones to see what can be done. I used the word solar tube as I thought that was the generic name for the 'tube' installed which reflected light into a room. Do they cause draughts? Have had no experience of them but will probably want to install one in my scullery (or Butler's kitchen) but am going to work in it a few months before deciding that. I am really quite a novice about function of installations and of building code....See MoreIdeas for a small ensuite needed
Comments (30)Hi Michelle. The fixed mirror was in line with the doors of the cabinets so that it looked like one large mirror with 2 joins. Our vanity was sort of in an alcove so the vanity and mirror went the full width of the alcove, about 1500mm. The alcove was because one corner of the bathroom was cut out to make a cupboard in the adjoining room, and the other side of the alcove was a matching wall which hid most of the toilet. That's why it worked to have a bulkhead in the alcove. I'd sent a photo but we've moved to an already built house. I miss those cabinets. We had wanted the cabinets to be inset in the wall but that didn't get communicated clearly enough in the plans. We (actually the builder) partly packed out the splashback area above the basin so that the cabinets did look partly recessed. Whether that's an option would depend on how much width you have to play with. Our ensuite was not small. I might also add that we decided to only put in 1 basin because the idea of needing 2 seemed so wasteful. We never regretted it. We easily worked out our morning schedules to not need the basin at the same time....See MoreEVELYN SCHNEIDER
