Help please to Improve Street Appeal to this small house!
Comments (13)Great suggestions already. I like the idea of the french doors leading to the lounge and opening onto a covered patio. Block up the existing door unless there’s a good reason for keeping it. I’m sure you can find something interesting to do with the space gained inside the house. Keep everything light and bright paintwise but you could let your head go colour-wise , soft lemon or green with white trims, or different shades of your favourite colour. Some plants in the ground, some in pots: a lemon tree, rosemary, succulents, etc. Good luck....See MoreHouse street appeal help
Comments (9)The house is meant to be striking and modern, so softening will confuse the design and lose impact. A south facing wall will always give problems with moss. A pressure washer will generally take care of this although be careful too strong a pressure could cause damage. Otherwise there are products on the market now to apply to hard surfaces that deter the growth of moss on outdoor surfaces and this may be a better alternative in the long term. Check your local paint shop. Vines that produce suckers to attach to walls can leave permanent marks and be impossible to totally remove. Your south facing wall will limit what you can grow too....See MoreHigh solid brick front fence - help with street appeal
Comments (20)I would not touch your fence for at least 12 months. At the moment it is giving you a quiet and private garden "room" which leads off your charming front verandah. Why don't you see how much you use this outside space during the different seasons before you make a decision? At the moment I would be comfortable enough to sit on your front verandah in my PJ's and dressing gown having a morning wake up coffee and enjoying the morning sun. I would never do that if the neighbourhood could see me. Never rush into making any changes to a new home until you understand the home and how it performs through the different seasons. Comments (5)I seem to look at things differently . The roof is weird -- straight cut at one end , tapered at the other . Normally I like timber , and on its own , the timber eve and the front door are fine . I'd normally even suggest going for 2 timber garage doors , and is that a window on the middle room ? If it is , I don't like the blue curtain -- ordinarily I'd suggest timber horizontal venetians . But as weird as the roof is , you are pretty much stuck with the blue . So I'd suggest going black and white -- do the eve in charcoal ; the 2 garage doors preferably get wooden ones and stain them charcoal , because painting the existing ones will just look like painted 40 year old doors . That way too ( the black and white theme ) , the front fence would tie in . If that is a curtain in the middle window , get a dark grey/charcoal one , personally I'd do the front door a bright red or orange , but a lot of people would stick with black . The white pole at the front door could be painted black , but personally I'd like to do stacked dark slate or similar . And a final touch -- a couple of big , brighter outdoor glazed pots , with 'interesting' plants in different heights and colours . The living plants will add some interest , while the pots themselves add some colour . Maybe trim the plants , add a pebble or bark garden , but thats about it ....See Morejulienewans
