Leave wall space for curtains to be drawn back into when open?
Comments (5)congratulations for thinking about this detail, such a shame to pay for extra wide windows that are always covered by curtains... the size of the wall space needed to pull the curtains free of the window is called the "stack back" and is affected by the thickness of the curtain fabric...with very thick curtains including separate liners we've allowed between 45cm-60cm on both sides of our windows (up to about 5m wide) and the effect is excellent although, for some windows and a sliding door, it was better to pull the curtain in only one direction with a 60cm stack back on one side ...and, depending on your climate all those extra wide windows could be very hot in summer so it might be worth considering having taller narrower windows where the top section can be shaded by overhanging eaves but still let in light and opened for ventilation and also consider Solar Sylights for very economical extra dayight without creating a hole in the roof and compromising roof insulation and, the idea of being able to draw the curtains into an enclosed space is interesting but would involve building an extra wall to create the gap and would be a problem if/when a curtain hook breaks and there's no access...See MoreColour advice for bedroom curtains
Comments (28)yes. stallion looks like it is in a sample hanger with all or most of the various colours available. your other photo with the 6 or so swatches looks like all warwick samples. The Bleecker pleat does look interesting. I haven't seen it in Australia. Just remember any 'different' headings will substantially increase your making cost. Making cost is usually not unreasonable in Australia in my opinion as we have regulated wages etc. so making will change depending on how much labour will be involved. the most 'flexible' cost with curtains is your fabric as fabric cost can have a very wide range as you have no doubt discovered. but the making cost is the same whether the fabric cost $25 per metre or $250. the labour is the same....See MoreCurtain ideas needed for a nursery
Comments (7)There is not much room for block out curtains to stack on the sides of the end windows, a better option would be to use screen roller blinds for privacy during the day and Roman blinds placed over the top for privacy at night. Roman blinds are great if you want to bring colour and pattern into the room and add a playful vibe. Image - Silvia Rajek Interiors Alternatively you could run a rod across the whole wall and have sheer curtains ( closed most of the time) and have block out roller blinds on each of the windows for privacy at night image from Pinterest...See MoreSheer Curtains or Blinds
Comments (7)big open glass panes with little ones fingers all over them is not a good look. Roman shades unless remote controlled can be a hazard with children the cords are very dangerous. So blinds that are remotely controlled would be a simple solution, with whatever you chose think about how they will look from both interior and exterior day and night...See MoreLouieT
