What are the dimensions of the existing room without walls, where are the windows, in the toilet and over the vanity in the shower room? 3M x 3M what are we working with. If you remove all the walls except the linen cupboard and does the linen cupboard also have hall access? If so get the linen opening out of the bathroom and have doors to hall side, which will make both elements work better. I know toilets in main bathrooms are not everyone's cup of tea, but if you can have a 720 door from i take it, a hall, run a custom made vanity unit, and it must be custom made to fit exactly the space available, and take it from hall and over the toilet cistern, which should be a concealed cistern, maintenance panel is the flush plate, and just pan is displayed. Two vanities if needed, one bigger one is more on trend, and hang the cabinets off the floor under the vanity top, to make it look longer and makes cleaning under the cabinet so much easier. That leaves a lot of space for the bath where the second vanity unit is now, which would look fantastic as a freestanding type. A simple frameless glass or semi frameless glass shower screens, allow access to bath, so it might be say 1M wide, if you install those long grid type floor wastes and the shower is long enough you might get away without a shower door. New taps nice big tiles to ceiling and this will look sweet. Close off the toilet and it becomes a bit of a rabbit warren. R

Hi I have a 3.6m x 1.8m ensuite bathroom. The entrance from bedroom to bathroom is centred on the long wall. I would like a single shower and built in bath tub with a single basin. Please help me with the layout.

Good point about the space, dreamer. We need to have a floor mounted vanity so it does block off the corner more than a wall hung version. I’d probably go with a plant as the corner will be squishy to access in option 1 rather than washing basket. I’d love to extend the vanity but it would be awkward opening the drawer into the bath. My preference is option 2 but good to canvas ideas from more experienced renovators.

my suggestions uses the alcove for a shower and hopefully allows for more standing (and sitting) space for more than one person to use the room at the same time...the shower door needs to be a triple panel glass sliding door to allow enough opening space without impacting the vanity as i think it's very challenging to create enough slope in an existing room for a walk in shower without enclosure) the toilet space is allowing 800 x 800 for knee, and elbow room but choosing the smallest possible toilet will help allow a little extra space to include a hand towel rail at the side of the vanity...a wall hung vanity helps make the room feel more spacious and leaves space under the vanity for waste basket and slippers or scales and consider a generous mirror doored wall cabinet and/or wall mirrors to help reflect more light and include storage space for toiletries and the vanity just for towels and toilet paper
