Thanks Louie, this feels a bit farmhouse for me , I'm going for a Hamptons , provincial mix if you know what I mean ?

Oh and I guess I need to mention I will be adding white linen sheers on the windows as well.

Well simky73 I would go for the white, though I was worried about it disappearing against the wall and the oak will shorten the room like a full stop I think.

If you do the hamptons style then adding some chalky blues and greys to the scheme, table toppers and hamptons style light fitting over the dining table that will help to co-ordinate the look. Are you adding a light fixture?

Okay well you have three different timbers, floor, table & bar chairs. The kitchen is lovely & has a great warm & welcoming feel, are you keeping the bar chairs?

The dining room needs a pendant in keeping with the theme you are trying to achieve IMO. Do you like antlers or is that too rustic/farmhouse? Most of my provincial photos are chandeliers but I don't think that goes. I will have a look around for you to get some ideas...

Thanks , that would be great , no the Bar chairs MUST go LOL. I was trying to find the right ones for there but may just get the basic white tolix stools for now.

Your dining chairs come in a bar chair too, is that an option?

Putting in a dining room pendant that complements your lovely kitchen pendants would help bring the theme together. It's hard to tell their colour from the photo, brass, bronze, copper?

They are Brushed nickel Louie :) I did think of the bentwood stools but worried they would be to matchy matchy ?

Louie, thank you , wow , super helpful and I love the blues ! I wish I could have fabric chairs but alas , the kids eat at the bench and cant keep food on their plates or in their mouths , perhaps when they are a little older LOL

There's many options, painting what you have as cloudpants suggested being the cheapest. Slip covers if you can sew or have someone who can, they come off for washing & then scotchguard as well. Have you decided on the buffet/hutch simky73?

Seems White may be the better way to go I guess, not to mention its $1000 cheaper LOL.

I'd go white . . . the natural oak is nice as the table top - but after a few years, a lot of natural oak can be a bit dull (I so wish I'd picked a warmer wood colour for my bookcases!)

I'd also go white to contrast with the timber floor and wall colour.

Well turns out I have found another favourite cabinet at Maison Living that has distressed white with an oak insert in the shelves ....drool
