How to transform this into a bungalow?
Comments (32)Wow! I've just woken (time difference Down Under) to check the enormous response from all. I'm absolutely thrilled & I will need some time to read through and analyse all the wonderful input, thanks so much. I'm very keen to search MCM. I love Queenslanders but thought that was trying to change the style into something its not to so was swaying towards a bungalow style of a home. We are located in the hinterland of the Gold Coast in Qld and want a home that suits our surrounds. I do not like modern I like cottage/bungalow style if thats possible. Its now 'get ready' for school time, so I'll be back. Thank you for all your ideas and opening my mind. Some ideas I have in pics attached....See MoreGlossary: What are the terms every new houzzer should know

Comments (28)Hello, annb! No, not really :-( It will be part of a mini reno later this year, so I still have time up my sleeve. So many of the decisions (like flooring, paint colours, finishes etc) have a knock-on effect, that I need to decide on everything before I start. I think I need to get a cork flooring expert to come and look at our floors and tell me what is and isn't possible in terms of changing the colour of the existing floors. I still think Smartstrand carpet will be the choice for the carpeted areas. But who knows.....I'm feeling quite paralysed to the point of losing confidence about changing anything. I might need a professional to help me decide !...See MoreTile or wooden skirting boards painted white in a new modern home??
Comments (21)Levarne Sobotker....although the tiles are beautiful you are very brave having those very glossy tiles throughout your whole house...from experience of having glossy tiles - they show every mark and really need cleaning multiple times a week - and you can't just mop very glossy tiles because the water marks show when they dry on - so you have to do small areas at a time and dry as you go - it will take an age to clean them if you have them through a whole house. We have gloss tiles in a couple of bathrooms and I would never choose them again. They are also very slippery when wet....See MoreLori Dennis, Inc.
