Hi Rebecca, There are never any set "rules" about what is right & wrong it comes to design and detail, however "balance" is always a good thing. Generally the shaker style is referencing the traditional/bygone eras which is fine, but why you more likely see this style of cabinetry coupled with handles than coupled with the shadow line finger pull which is a contemporary detail. Unless the proportion of the cupboards is carefully managed and balanced you're probably correct with your instinct (that you must always trust!) that it will be a busier rather than sleeker look, which may in fact defeat the purpose of the no-handles thing that you're shooting for. Whatever you do I advise on being consistent and confident with your decisions, in that there should be good reason for doing something in a particular way. The risk you have doing what you're proposing is trying to be two different things.....it's kind of either go retro and embrace it, or go contemporary/sleek and be confident with that.. I have been in kitchen design for 16 years and associated with a kitchen company that has been in business for around 25 years. You should not have doors any wider than 300mm for a bi-fold as the combined weight for the 2 doors is too much for the hinges and after time the door will sag and be difficult to open/close Bi-fold doors are not the best solution for corners anyway and there are better options. There are plenty of kitchen companies in all areas who offer a design service. this way you will have the services of an expert ,often for free who can visit the space and give a qualified assessment of the best solution/solutions and an idea of what it all will cost and involve. regards Paul

Thanks guys. Bed 1 is South and Bed 2 is north. Or in your drawing oklouise bedroom 2 is south. This plan is a two story extension that is new and will basically be our house (parent living in the older part). My partner is obsessed with having room to get furniture in easily (constant apartment move ptsd) thats why the larger stairway entry. The permit is approved and we are about to build next week so not sure about changing windows about at this late stage as it’s been a hellish exercise getting to this point! I am having trouble attaching the plans as a screen shot on my phone, working on it..

Before Now We opened up the wall to make a walkway. Basically, closed up that laundry door near the bathroom. So now the way through the back entertaining/pergola area is through kitchen/laundry. And when you come in through the front door you no longer see the laundry but a nice recessed feature wall. Where the ladder is, that will be the pantry. I would've liked a bigger pantry but the builder made a mistake measuring and we lost 100mm. Basically made the recess bigger. But was too late as wall was build. Also, would have preferred a french door or sliding door rather than a window, but it was too much to do and we didn't want to sacrifice the space Since we couldn't make a french door to replace the window we opted for a servery window instead. I'll update again when we've got the cabinets and everything else.. Thank you so much for all your wonderful ideas. It really helped us create our dream 🙂
