Too many variables, not enough information. Where is the site, budget, style, how many occupants, Council area is a major factor initially.

yes oklouise, I hear all that - absolutely yes it's all about clients understanding/working out properly what they need.........and it's great to be able to seek comments/thoughts on Houzz from a broad range of backgrounds/experiences......the issue though is when it gets into territory where (from my perspective) clearly experience and professional skill will help resolve the problem most effectively (such as on this particular one) that it's therefore appropriate to suggest this the advised way to go.......I suppose I see frequently here capacity for designers to be able to "cut to the chase" most effectively, but of course this needs to be done in a manner underpinned by a thorough understanding and establishment of what the client needs in context, and yes very often the client will require more time to work this all through.........I however still see our role as relevant in that part of the process though, and not necessarily having to "wait" for that to happen, because ultimately as professionals in this position (i believe) have a responsibility (as part of our role as a consultant) to educate people appropriately and thoroughly so they can develop the skills to be able to consolidate their decision-making most appropriately for themselves and the project - by the end of the journey, I find my clients are rather quite the experts!..........this however involves a collaborative approach, egos are shelved and an intimate working relationship, which is very different from the approach (that some designers work to) which is essentially selling a "product" or particular end result, rather than a service....significant difference, and again, horses for courses ;)

Two issues -- The middle size looks 'about right' and approx 40cm diameter ( approx 2/3rds the size of the larger one ) . But I don't think it suits many modern styles -- a beach inspired place with say white woven wallpaper or seagrass style flooring or some distressed furniture would be complemented by this , but a modern build with say painted walls doesn't do anything with this style IMO . Go classier rather than laid-back would be my advice , and that would depend on the decor . And thinking about things , one 'trick' I used in a commercial building I own was 5 polished copper shades up an L shaped stairway -- the ceiling was flat , so nearly 5 metres 'up' at the base , and I used 28cm ones with the biggest round clear LED bulbs ( 8Watt ) I could get , all hung on that oldstyle '1940's iron' type cord , so they were all 2.6metres above the stair below -- it created that 'going up' visual effect . One large light ( especially say 4 metres above the deck ) won't give that effect .

Thanks everyone for you thoughts but as this is a renovation/add on of our house we aren’t planning on moving wall of existing bathroom, toilet & laundry except to move the toilet door into the bathroom so people can go to the toilet in privacy. With 2 other toilets in the house and another in the shed there’s always one available.We’ve lived with the toilet door as it is for 21 years and when we’re at the dinning table you can hear what’s going on in there. We’re quite happy with kitchen layout. One of the main reasons for this renovation is to improve the indoor outdoor flow as our outdoor entertainment area is directly outside the new entry in the kitchen. Currently everyone comes through the laundry.
