Hi Jayrees It looks like the house is built as per the reverse image, right? Are you swapping the furniture every time you entertain? You'll know your chiropractor well. How big's your budget? If possible you could move the garage forward by at least 1/2 and that'll give you a 3x6 family room, then you can move the kitchen down to the laundry with a breakfast bar also a possible scullery to hide dishes while entertaining. Want a bigger pantry too? A bigger budget would be if you can sacrifice bedroom 2 and move the laundry into half of it with a study in the other half if you are needing 2 studies. Condolences on the garage being small with the dimensions starting with 5000, hope you don't have big vehicles. Is the entry wide enough for double doors?

unless you have 6 people for dinner every day i suggest swop the dining table for smaller extendable table with stowaway folding chairs for extra guests and try moving the desk into the lounge to create enough space in the dining area for small twin lounge chairs with full height shallow storage beside fireplace and consider removing the wall in the lounge and retaining the wall between kitchen and dining d the wall between bathroom and kitchen could have full height in wall pantry storage (many cans, bottles, packets, glasses etc will fit inside a 10-30cm deep cabinet with larger in wall cabinets above the stove or in the dining roomthe easiest cheapest way to brighten the dining room would be to install Solar Skylights (check out illume or Arcol brands available at Bunnings)

In your post you said you were after a provincial look. You could bring in some accent chairs in that style and use throws and cushions in the blue from rug and the red also, to bring together. This is colours as Julie suggested. Visit your local second hand furniture store, they may have furniture pieces you can start with. I find sometimes rooms come together better over time. You will see things that are your style, and this will add to the room. Don't think you have to 'finish' the room straight away. And I agree with other post. Paint is an inexpensive way to change a room.

To be blunt -- the room isn't really big enough ! So you have to sort out priorities , and space . You have a dining table , and a computer desk . Can you get rid of the computer desk , by having your computer tower mounted behind the couch or similar , and a wireless keyboard and mouse that you can use on the dining table ? Mount the monitor on a wall , or if you don't need in depth graphics , I understand you can use your TV ( I've heard something about the 'refresh rate' is less on a TV ? ) . Maybe even have a monitor but also the option of using your TV ? Could you use a 'breakfast bar' , probably where the computer desk is now , I know its not sociable all staring at a wall , but it would/could serve as a brakfast bar and computer workstation . Could you get rid of the dining table and chairs , and have a large coffee table , or 2 smaller ones , and eat 'casually' ( my polite way of saying eat sitting on the couch ) ? Even mounting the TV on the wall will let you get rid of the cabinet , but I gather you have gaming consoles in there ? And the present arrangement with the pot plants uses some space -- maybe some shelves with them on will still retain the plants but free up floor space ? Just some thoughts off the top of my head .
