Need help for my back room rumpus, family room and bedroom layout
Comments (4)Hi Charles, Firstly, I am not a designer or anything but I have just spent over 12 months planning & designing my house so I've looked at heaps of plans & I've done lots of research. This is what I have come up with.. I think you can leave it with the same layout and just extend the wall off the rumpus. Yes it eats in to you bi-fold doors but I have a plan to counteract that & not sacrifice the light & open plan. Using corner stacker doors (much cheaper than bi-fold) will open this space right up to the alfresco area. Not sure what you had planned for this area but if you were planning on having a built in bbq area it could be done on the back of the rumpus room wall (in the space where I extended the wall). I also think you will have more flexibility if you have doors entering the rumpus rather than sliding doors as you can use the wall space without having to worry about the wall cavity. I printed your plan off & had a play so check it out & see what you think. I will not be offended however if you don't like my ideas as its your house & it needs to suit you & your family. All the best with it, I know how hard & stressful it is! Shae...See MoreAdvice needed please for kids family room
Comments (18)Girlguides, I totally agree. The kids are not likely to use downstairs. It's really an open space between the kids bedrooms and the stairs to go upstairs. But it is actually quite bright. I think I'll get a couple of chairs and a coffee table overlooking the outdoor scenery. The room also has an upright piano in it. I was going to move the piano out. But think I'll keep it in there. The question now is, do I build built in shelves like the photos above, or do I use bought furniture like bookshelves or something similar that's not fixed. And maybe a blue rug... Although I do like greens. My two favourite colours. Or a white rug? Hmm......See MoreStyling suggestions needed for my family room
Comments (30)What do you do in the room? I see that you said you want to get "side tables coffee table" but will you use them for anything? Otherwise it's just more clutter to manoeuvre the vac around. Also beware of horizontal space. If you do not have enough storage but you do have tables handy that is where stuff will be dropped. So could you use something incorporating storage, a coffee table with a drawer, a bookshelf or sideboard against the wall? I know some people do not want to make a living space 'all about the television' but is there no television? You also asked "what colors you thinkin for cushions... our house is very neutral with whites and grey tones through out". Do you want to keep it neutral or do you have any colours that you like or do you have a preference for warm tones or cool tones? The one picture you have on the wall does not seem to make the most of that wall. As previous replies have said, choice of artwork is personal. Other people can't tell you what you like. However other people can advise you on how best to display what you like, how to position artworks to best effect....See MoreFamily/dining/kitchen room needs help
Comments (0)Hello All, I would love some suggestions on how to make this room feel warm and also light. This room has been difficult to arrange the furniture as it not very big and is also a thoroughfare to our yard. I know the TV is probably too prominent but we do like to watch while cooking. The artwork is also wrong and we’ve tried a lot of pieces on the walls which are stored under our bed, I don’t love any of our artwork 🥴I’ve just left these ones up as I just “gave up”. Am open to painting one or two walls and possibly even a feature stone wall or bookshelves (which i really miss having) just need something to make it homey and to give it character. We need to keep the dark slate floor. Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you...See MoreBy Dezign Pty
