Updating Sliding Wardrobe Doors - Help!
Comments (3)Hi, these doors look like the commonly used, Vinyl Wrap Plasterboard. Yes they can be painted. Just tape the silver frame to protect from accidental paint. You could also wallpaper them. https://www.pinterest.com.au/pin/164874036328386415/...See MoreIs it worth putting timber/polyeutherine doors on a sliding doors buil
Comments (8)If it is bare particleboard then my short answer is probably no, it is not worth paying double for better quality doors. Like I said, I haven't seen unfinished particle board inside cupboards in a long time. If it is laminated particleboard then it might be worth it. Like The Joinery Store said, laminated interiors are typical. Plywood is not unheard of (and I think it is more common in some other countries) but it would be unusual if you did not specifically request it. Just to be clear, the cupboard has been built and has laminate doors, and you are getting quotes to change the doors? For what reason are you thinking of changing them? What do you want the doors to look like from the outside? Do you want them to match any other doors or features in the room which are timber or poly?...See MoreDoor Choices. Comments (2)All three doors are good, just depends on what they are opening into/onto- hinged doors can give a bigger opening with no stepover, sliders are great if sill is level with the floor but can be quite hard to keep clean (the sills) and pivot doors can give a great size opening but take up quite a lot of space swinging open- so it comes down to personal preference as per every decision in building/renovating...See MoreEn-suite and walk in Wardrobe shared sliding door
Comments (17)We have the same layout as you in our 90s spec built home. We have Bunnings type cavity sliders so I imagine ours are about as cheap as you can get. They are awful - they are noisy when they slide so if one of us gets up in the night for the bathroom, we have to open the door in slow motion so as not to wake the other one up! We have them on our other wet rooms through the house and I find them not too bad acoustically but they don't screen anything in the ensuite. I would not recommend them at all. As for whether to have 1 or 2 doors, the only time I close the WIR door is when I am at my wits end haha! It's a great space for a private phone conversation but I really couldn't be bothered closing the door any other time...See MoreSharpdesign
