Tile decision!!!
Comments (37)I had a lot of Tile Photos and shapes on my old Computer XP But the new one is Apple and I was Wondering why I couldn't Find Things that should have been there..The best ones are those that fit together as a complete Panel. It is True that it is not easy to Make The Shapes yourself...I did a tile Course a few years ago....You can Roll the Clay out and then print out the shape you require. (You need to spend time making or getting a Metal Worker to Make several Shapes in Steel...It is like Pastry Cutting ..Probably would take too long...You are right that some Clays are Easier to Work with...There is a type of Terracotta that is very forgiving...But a lot of the white or beige clays will crack very easily and are too fussy.. You have to leave things to dry out slowly over about 4 weeks ...The Kiln needs to be heated up very slowly any rushing and crafts will happen . I still have my old Computer so I hope to get Photo's unto a clip so that I can move them to iPhoto...Good luck with your Project.......See MoreShould we put a skylight over our shower?
Comments (35)We installed a skylight over shower (velux fixed) in a tiny ensuite and I would highly recommend. It looked absolutely amazing and was heavenly to shower under the sky. We only had the house for a year and sold it (about to install another skylight over shower in our new house), so I can't comment on the long term, but no mould problems or condensation drips. I think if anything the sunlight was actually helpful to dry up moisture. We live in Tasmania so I'd doubt condensation dripping would be a problem elsewhere. We had a fan installed not in the cavity with the skylight but just on the ceiling next to it. In the second bathroom we put in a skylight over bath and put an extractor in the skylight cavity as the ceiling was higher. Could not feel a draught- so I think the question of where to put fan really depends on ceiling height. Do the skylight over shower!! You will not regret it. It really takes your bathroom to another level and there are really no maintenance problems if installed properly with custom flashings. I found velux quite repellent of dirt etc, we did not need to clean after a year (one flat roof skylight, one very large sloped) and I have seen velux skylights looking great with no cleaning for 7 years plus....See MoreDining Room Makeover
Comments (6)Hi xclusive Yes you will need to fix the 'rough texture' on the ceiling. Either have a false ceiling battened on or do a smooth skim coat. Also 1. Yes add a decorative cornice- will finish the room and compliment the traditional style 2. Any other mouldings, Id keep fairly simple and repaint white same as wall to brighten and freshen the space. Your ceiling you need to paint half strength white as walls or celing white in a flat finish. 3. Yes- dimmer very important 4. Yes- engineered timber floor 5. yes- rug under table 6. No - I wouldnt place the pictures there- it draws too much attention to this space. Place larger pictures/artwork on the side walls. Id focus on updating the window furnishing treatments to make more of the windows. Replace the pendant light fitting. It's looking tired and will give the room an instant lift. Comments (7)Proportional consistency - keeping the 1:2 rule in place everywhere will jar less than having the same architrave but varying the skirting. If you’re already considering 90 and 140 skirting, why not go for 40 and 70 architraves? The effect will be more harmonious and it shouldn’t impact the price too much ... plus, it’s your house - if you like the 1:2 rule then use it :-) (PS: if it does impact the price too much, just pick one size of each and save more cash)...See MoreStudio H2O
