Comments (21)Our island is 900 depth, 2400 wide, with a sink in the middle (opposite the cooktop), which works well for us. Plenty of prep area either side of the sink (mind you, it's a single undermount sink, about 500mm wide, with no drainboard). If we were going to use the island for actual meals, ours is only deep enough for a person either side of the sink. So, if you're thinking of having the island as a dining area, go to the 1200 depth. Just walk around it to clean it. On the other hand, if the island is going to be for prep, and a place for guests to prop up a glass of wine and chat while you're getting dinner, 900 is fine. Our dishwasher is to the immediate left of the sink, and we have pull out waste bins underneath the sink. We have 1200 mm space from island to the wall side and the range top, and about the same to the other ends. Our fridge, which isn't huge, is in a 900 mm+ cavity which would be big enough for a deeper fridge. It's in relatively the same place your fridge is, and works fine there. Hinges are on the non-kitchen side of the door, so it opens into the kitchen. Cabinets beside it are a bit more in depth, so fridge and cabinets line up nicely. 850 for your fridge seems reasonable to me. I wouldn't put that study where you have it: I think you'll need all of that butler's pantry for butlering type storage. My 5 cents worth based on new house, new experience, absolutely no kids in the equation!...See MoreHelp choosing cabinet colour for kitchen
Comments (6)Hi Heather, whatever the selection - we always recommend to have the cabinetry finish match as closely as possible to your wall finish - as to not look like two contrasting whites, you may just consider repainting after you've made the selection. Dulux Natural white or Lexicon Quarter are both very popular selections - and not on the too cold or too warm side either. We also find that most clients too will mix finishes - for example using a grey for the upper cabinetry, or on the island bench - to create contrast, you may notice that between all white walls, benchtop and sink the white becomes overwhelming! Good luck - we are loving the sounds of how it is all coming together so far!...See MoreNeed help with the the kitchen cabinets width !
Comments (6)Hi Nancy Your overhead cupboard sizes and layout all work in with the rest of your kitchen design and giving you four 300mm doors that do not swing out beyond the bench-top line. They relate directly to the length of your 2050mm wall, the position of your Oven, Cook-top and the size of your Rangehood. If anything, you could change the three 300mm doors on the right, changing these into one cabinet with two 450mm doors which then match the size of the doors on your Rangehood cabinet. I Hope this helps, Malcolm....See More2in1 Bathroom Sink can be used as a laundry Sink
Comments (26)@wuff, Thank you so much, and congratulation for your renovation, I wish you will enjoy it for so many years to come. Yes, I agree living into a granny flat next to my son was my husband wish before he passed away. It is good to be close to family. Also I love the suburb which I have been lived in for 22 years. My Daughter and her family is living close by too. Most of my close friends are living around and we always gather for a brunch, or lunch or watch movies. The good thing is most of my friends pick me up and don't let me drive most of the time when we go out. Thank you again...See More- 7 years ago
