Help me choose my bathroom feature tiles
Comments (19)Out of your selection - I would choose the middle one on the bottom row - it gives you a modern look and pattern without being too ghastly - it would fit in with the retro vibe as well. Good luck!...See MoreBathroom Feature Wall with same tiles as floor tiles???
Comments (9)Hi Sofia I definitely think brick lay would work better on the walls in the bathroom purely because you have a 30x30 on the floor and a 30x60 on the wall. You will find the tiles could look out of place trying to stack them. It would be a different matter if they did not share 1 or more dimension. Perhaps in the ensuite, consider doing something like this: [https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/what-architecture-beirutful-house-eclectic-patio-london-phvw-vp~14310278[(https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/what-architecture-beirutful-house-eclectic-patio-london-phvw-vp~14310278) Tile the floor and half way up the back wall with the "floor tiles", perhaps a tile or 2 above the vanity unit and then continue with the white tiles to the ceiling. You could hang your mirror so it covered about 1/4 of the "floor tile" and 3/4 of the white above the centre of the sink. In the main bathroom consider something like this: [https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/victorian-dream-bathroom-victorian-bathroom-london-phvw-vp~39122647[(https://www.houzz.com.au/photos/victorian-dream-bathroom-victorian-bathroom-london-phvw-vp~39122647) Tiling the back wall to the shower in the "floor tile" to the ceiling with the white tiles behind the loo to the ceiling. Alternatively, tiling the entire back wall with the "floor tiles". The first option may make the bathroom feel smaller if the shower takes up more than 1/3 of the back wall. Doing the two different options would give the bathrooms continuity, but also some individuality. I hope this helps. Look forward to perhaps seeing the outcome. Comments (4)We did think of pulling up some tiles from elsewhere, but they are stuck way too well and would certainly break. Everything in this place is built to withstand a massive tornado, or maybe a bomb blast! We think the builder had shares in the company that made Sikaflex! And no, just using contrast on the threshold won't do it, sadly. I do think we'll have to cut out some good tiles to extend the feature somehow so it doesn't look odd....See MoreFeature column tiles ideas
Comments (4)Is that pic your actual place , or off a brochure ? The door is beautiful , the glass is great , I can't work out if the steps are polished concrete or marble , but basically it all looks classy ! And then that stacked stone looks like someone has run a picture through a black-and-white photocopier , and glued it on -- it looks fake ! Just a hint -- stacked stone doesn't have uniform crisp sharp corners -- and the grout lines should follow around corners too haha . Any sort of tiling may look as bad , or maybe better ; likewise powdercoated aluminium panels will look corporate ( not a good thing on a house IMO ) . If it was me , I wouldn't care if the 'allowance' was $60 -- I'd happily spend $6000 to go genuine ! It will make the whole place look better -- you only have 1 chance to make a first impression ! BTW -- is that $60 in total , or $60 a square metre -- neither will go far ? If budget really is that tight , how about just a plain render . Even thats probably more than $60 ! If thats all you can afford , so be it . But either at build time , or in future , if you have the $$$ , you could add 5 or 6 vertical 40mm x 40mm battens across the front of the column , same style and tone as the door , the full height ( maybe $600 ? ) and obviously referencing the door ....See MoreNicole K
