Need help with choosing colour grey for sitting room
Comments (20)Thanks Helen. Actually I've read that Bristol paints have a record of the formulas used for Benjamin Moore's paints. Not sure if that's accurate though. Also thanks Tilly for all your suggestions. Ironically I used China White throughout an entire house many years ago and I loved it. I also used Whisper White for a lot of the painted shelving and some furniture. It was an open plan house and the colour scheme was seamless. Received lots of compliments. The woodwork in the rest of our current house is in Antique White USA (as are the walls), but I'm wanting to go for a more 'intimate' look in the sitting room, and I'm still drawn to the idea of a warm charcoal grey for the walls, and Antique white USA for the architraves, skirtings etc. I'm attaching a picture of the Benjamin Moore Rockport Gray, but I know it's impossible to choose a colour from a photo, but it will give you an idea of the colour scheme I'm wanting for that room. By the way I know what you mean by the picture rails limiting the use of walls. I'm attaching another photo I've found that shows a similar room (although a lot grander) without picture rails. But my partner is rather fond of the picture rails, and I can just imagine his response if I suggested they be removed! It's hard enough trying to decide on paint :)...See MoreDULUX Beige Royal Colour for EXTERIOR ----- HELP PLEASE
Comments (54)Hello HU-326891764 , it is never a good idea to trust a Screen (computer, phone, TV ) to see what a paint colour looks like because all screens have different colour settings & so never show the true colour. You need to compare your actual paint colour to the manufacturers colour sample swatch you selected. Paint Colour also alters slightly on different textured surfaces as well as in different light conditions and can be affected by other surrounding colours (especially if you are using lighter coloured paints) and can also change throughout the day. So again other peoples photos on screens or even in printed form are never an accurate indicator of a particular colour. Colour Swatches are the gold standard for reference. After paining your surface with 3 coats and it is dry, then compare this to the manufacturers colour sample swatch and if you think it is different then your paint may not be tinted correctly, and you can go back and discuss this mis-tint with your paint supplier. Hope this helps, Malcolm. Corrected...See MoreHelp me choose a colour fence please......
Comments (13)Oh! Sorry I misunderstood your post. I think it depends on what type of planting you will have along your fence line. I assume it will be a Colorbond fence? I wouldn't introduce Shale grey. Of those two I'd prob stick with Surfmist but then I think greenery looks FABULOUS against Monument fencing. The whole back of my house is Surfmist acrylic render and we have chosen Monument fencing and garden retainer walls/seating around the perimeter of our garden as it provides a background of depth against greenery. I know you don't like Monument though. Houzz does give you a variety of opinions and does make you think outside the square. Good luck with your choice!...See MoreHelp me choose a grout colour please
Comments (10)I agree on the soft grey for the floor tiles. I think anything else would detract from the pattern of the lovely floor tiles. I can see why you asked for help with the wall grout. I can think of 4 different reasons why I'd choose different colours! Maybe look at some similar tiles (real life or photos) with similar coloured tiles and different grout colours....See More- 8 years ago
