White paint for dark room facing south. Lexicon trims.
Comments (4)Hi lostinreno I would definitely recommend a white with warm undertones and not blue tones. The natural light in the south facing aspect has a natural blue tone to it so unless you are in Queensland and what the cool effect, it needs warming up with the colours you use. Natural white has some yellow and red pigments as well as black. The small amount of black makes it cover well whereas some of the more yellow undertoned whites dont cover well and you need more coats as MB Design and Drafting mentioned. Use the same white for all. Half strength on ceiling in flat finish and trims (satin) works well. Best wishes...See MoreDulux Casper white quarter? Vivid White?
Comments (22)We have done all of the downstairs open plan area in Caspar white quarter. Skirts done in same colour in gloss with vivid white ceiling & cornice. We had a4 samples of 4 Dulux whites: Snowy Mountains 1/2, white exchange 1/2, white polar 1/4. Moved the samples to every room with hubby & wrote down which we preferred. Tried them in north and south rooms in day and night light. CW1/4 was hands down the favourite. It looks great - crisp & clean with no blue, we love it. Photos were taken at night. Hope this helps....See Morewhite on white exterior paint colours
Comments (1)There are so many things to consider, for example the orientation of the house is it a North facing yard which will attract lots of natural sunlight, where South facing is shaded and colours will appear deeper / darker. What colour are the gutters and fascias and roof? Aluminium windows are these pearl white? As you probably know there are many shades of white, that have very different undertones, some throw red, blue or yellow. From the samples you have painted you appear to be drawn to a "greige" combination of grey and beige a smart colour for todays exteriors so certainly on trend. A lovely greige I have just recommend for a client is a Deluxe colour called Calf skin, paired with natural white trims and a grey pebble large garage roller door has come up beautifully. If you are in Sydney happy to assist with a colour consultation. Worth the money...See MorePlease help with living room rug, curtains, throws and cushion colours
Comments (71)Rachael, you’re very welcome! It was fun to draw up. As far as layering photos, I wasn’t suggesting you cover one photo with another, (what is the point of having beautiful photos and memories then! Lol) rather, overlap the edges of the frames (both are quite wide from your photos) so that they are connected without obscuring the images within. Hope that makes sense! What a difference just painting that back wall makes! It really opens up the room now. I think the few bricks around your fireplace now is a very charming feature. It keeps the charm of the original while bringing the rest of the room into a fresh new era! Well done! I would suggest running a long extension chord for your tv for now while you try out a new layout for the space if there are no powerpoints on the far wall, just to be sure you like the arrangement. Can’t wait to see updated images of your new space!...See MoreUser
