Feedback on floorplan on a sloping block- Need help!
Comments (27)ddarroch Thanks for all the great suggestions. Pity indeed about the directions of the sun and view. Can't change the profile of the block only can try to work out the best based on what it is. Very valid points about the heating VS. clerestory windows. We are in the temperate climate region which keeping warm it’s an issue in winter. We have thought about to have low-e glass in the south facing side but looks like we probably need to have double glazing in places like the north facing clerestory windows like you suggest. No ideas how much more double glazing will cost but certainly we need to include a fair amount into our budget. Agree with having a door separating the living from the back of the house like you said. Much better for heating and sound insulation. Again thanks a lot....See MoreFEEDBACK on floorplan
Comments (18)@siriuskey, @oklouise, thanks for your feedback and ideas! Agree with your suggestions of swapping the bedroom with the laundry and bathroom for House 2. Using it as a small lounge initially with double doors will actually be quite nice! Also with House 1, we are considering access to the driveway from the west. @siriuskey, why will this add more costs? Biggest impact I can anticipate right now is on the elevations - will get some ideas from the architect @oklouise's revised floorplan for House 1 is interesting... the living areas all benefit from the north facing backyard, although I'm concerned it may be a bit too "long" for me and wondering how it will affect the elevations....See MoreSeeking feedback on floor plan - Ground Floor
Comments (1)Love it as is. Well done. The void above living will let on light, just be careful of not letting in the western light too much. So some way to shade house on the backyard end. would be good....See MoreFeedback on floorplan - laundry location options
Comments (15)To my untrained eye, it strikes me as a really nice design generally - so great job. I’m keen to vote, but feel like we need to see the upstairs layout for Option 2 to understand the trade-offs (what will the space previously dedicated to the laundry be repurposed for) - sorry if you’ve posted / explained this and I can’t see it working off the phone....See MoreMarianne Goldman
