@mcom_ie, I have said in many other posts that I'm a neutral kind of girl but more and more I'm seeing colours that drop my jaw like your picture of the entry. Would you mind telling me what the colour is on the walls and the skirting boards and door if that's different. I planned to stick with very neutral colours but this colour is quite stunning. I also plan to have timber floors but don't want the paint to take on a yellow glow from the flooring. As for your original question on this post, I agree with Sophie from Interior Decorating with her suggestion for a bench seat but not a chair in the corner, if you look for the right bench that's not too wide, it shouldn't be in the way but otherwise a narrow hall table or hall stand as suggested by SophieHicks would look great to If you have a little hurricane running around, a simple outdoor cane/ratten bench seat will withstand the rigors of your child and look quite smart too. In time as your hurricane slows to a gentle breeze, you could put the cane bench outdoors and replace it with a bench just like that pictured in Sophie's post.

Hi there, re the fence my choice would be the same colour as house with either same colour slats or your window surfmist both would look classic, definately NO timber here. Because you are on a corner block I'd be planting a hedge inside the fence with something like Murraya asap, Jim Henson could advise. I would consider Pleaching them up to where the slats start so that you could under plant with something pretty, I'd also consider adding garden lights as per attached photo. plus I would also consider putting "Eye lid" down lights on the exterior posts of the fence, this could add great street appeal for your wonderful very large house (is your whole family moving in. The garage, either same as wall colour or Monument is my choice. cheers,

i prefer the ribbed glass to the slatted timber. what about creating a purpose for the difference in level. like create a banquette seating area for putting on shoes, or some low storage for things like hats, umbrellas, stuff you'd use near the door. If you made a bench without the screen it would be defined but still open. Do you remember the old telephone tables? maybe you can find one from 70s and set it up opposite the door? You could also add some feature tile to the vertical face of the little rise, it would make it more defined as you step up if it was a contrasting colour. but again the bench might help see the step as you go down. Or even just a little rug that changes the floor colour and makes the step down more obvious, it sort of disappears visually otherwise.

The area that is labelled entertaining area , how often does it get used ? What I'm thinking is can you make that your Master Bedroom , and then you already have the ensuite insitu . The double windows into what I'll call Bed 2 could be replaced with a door ( probably with glass up the sides ) , that room could be a home office or playroom or maybe an entertainment room haha , whilst the living is very large ( split it up usoing sofas or similar ? ) . Okay , it'll be a bit noisier , and that middle bedroom may be noisy also ( how often do you entertain ? ) but you gain effectively an ensuite , a more logical entrance , etc , for relatively little $$$$
