Hi Katie. I've just finished a reno in a bathroom approximately this size. it looks like the toilet is currently on an exterior wall. if this is the case it can be costly - or not possible to relocate the plumbing. Yes, I know cisterns can be installed in the wall. My plumbers are wary of these ....try fixing a fault without cutting a hole - or holes - in the wall! If you are restricted to the outside wall, I would install a sliding door (gives you more space in the actual room). Leaving the bath and shower where they are saves $$$. if you move the toilet further to the left and install a wall-hung vanity under the window, you could also add a 'half-wall' to the toilet area for privacy. (Wall-hung vanities open the room up. This plan would give you great space on the left hand wall for storage and/or laundry hampers, You could of course switch the bath to the opposite wall, and move the toilet to the current bath area. Moving the door to the right AND installing a slider, would allow this. (BTW I just installed a 1700 bath - 1500's are available too.) Hope this is not too unclear! Enjoy the process!.

The tiles are not offensive..most people are choosing white with white anyway. Given the items you want to keep I would simply replace the bench top, add a new wider longer mirror, that fills the space where you currently have the tiles and if you are using laminate it can only be an above mount sink. If you are doing stone or timber then you can have an undercount sink. I would possibly consider taking off all the wall tiles and find a more natural tile to work with your floors and then add a lick of paint to freshen it all.

Thanks Luke, regarding the panelled front exhausts, have you seen any in the market that looks very slimline? The ones ive seen are pretty ugly. Do you know if i got a separate vent, whether i could get an electrician to attach it to an exhaust fan that can duct the steam out? Otherwise , happy to hear other solutions for a steamy bathroom. For storage, I used a mirrored lift up cupboard door above the sink area in my very small ensuite with some success. We put power points inside the cupboard too - it was a very good place to have them as the door lifts up & is out of the way. I also used some of the wall space to allow slightly deeper shelves, without the cupboard jutting so far into the room. The cistern was recessed into the wall cavity, (in our case below the window) & it worked well to save a little space in the room. Photos are not very good, but I hope you can get the idea.. It worked very well. The ensuite was 1mx2m. We use vertical towel rails. They're really good & very compact, but do make sure the electrician installs them up the right way. They work on the heat rising principal & do not work well upside down as ours were installed!Hope this is helpful. Good luck.
