Sorry, but to my eye the rug is too big, too thin, and not exciting. How would you view the rug if it cost a bundle? If it isn't worth having at a high price, it's not worth having at a low price, especially since it is not materially different than the current too-small rug. For me, I would wait to find a rug that I loved, loved, loved.

Hi, I would do a bigger lounge rug, one that extends to the base of or under couch but stopes similar to current in other directions. I’m not a fan of dining rugs as diff to keep clean and get fouled by chairs. I think you need to look at the dining room furniture, both the varying styles and placement, it does not appear cohesive. At moment putting a rug under table could help bring the attention to that area. Changing or moving the other furniture and dressing table may help that too.

I've been looking to replace my carpet as well. A friend of mine has a cut pile carpet, which I love the look of, but my OCD just cannot deal with the ugly tracking marks. I've been to a few different retailers and have come across a product called "Birdwood" by a local manufacturer in Adelaide. They caught my eye as they advertised track resistant carpet. It's got a really nice lush feel to it - so you wont need to settle for a lower quality carpet. Agree with bigreader, if you do go with a rug get a low cut pile so footprints won’t show, it will be a bit of a challenge for you, an outdoor rug could look beautiful, there are some fabulous designs available and they would wear well with foot traffic.
