does this style have a serate bar between bottom and top so you open either one seperately? can this style be used in anyroom with modern type home? Thank you so much for your time. Ralph....hughcarr@aol.com
Hi Ralph, thanks for your enquiry. The 'separate bar' that you refer to is called a Mid Rail. A mid rail adds structural reinforcement for shutters that are over a certain drop (height). For Basswood (timber) plantation Shutters a mid rail is mandatory for all shutters > 1800 mm and 2 x mid rails for shutters > 2400 mm in height. For PVC shutters, 1 x mid rail is mandatory > 1500 mm and 2 x mid rails at > 2100 mm. In addition you can also request a "Split tilt" this means that the shutters can be separated into sections that are operated separately. So you can open the top half, keeping the bottom half closed for shutters that don't require a mid rail. Alternatively if you have a mid rail that is lower down in the window, you can opt to have a split tilt above the mid rail. Your shutter will therefore have 3 areas that open and close separately.
