subject to correct measurements my suggestion includes extending the kitchen into the old laundry and creates a new laundry next to the study with hallway access for a re-arranged bathroom but we need correct measurements to identify positions of existing toilet, taps and sinks to be more precise.Does the existing laundry have external access? do you want/need external access for a new laundry? do you want the kitchen to be open to the living and family rooms or would you prefer separate rooms? is the under stairs space already being used for walk through storage? what about access to the garage from the front entry?.....with correct internal wall measurements we could make more specific suggestions but your plans don't show or we can't see details of existing rooms

Thanks, oklouise. This is our only bath, so it needs to stay. The kitchen does not have lots of storage, so I was hoping to increase the size of the pantry a bit. Or to make it rectangle so that there is more storage. If I need to then I will take some space out of the lounge beside the kitchen. So the ensuite has a reasonable vanity, toilet, shower and bath. The pantry has the fridge in it as I am not keen on how it would look in the kitchen. But I am open to ideas. Deanne.

@Simonne Moretta Option 1 is my pick, if it has a window in the end so it is not dark. Pantries work best if the shelving is not too deep as can happen in the corner walk-in arrangement, otherwise they need some expensive storage mechanisms to make the space work well. This also leaves a nice long work area to the back for the scullery, which can offer a good amount of storage that is deeper, or maybe a section of the scullery area could be a full high storage cupboard if needed also. Generally this long thin arrangement is going to serve you better for work area and storage.

Have a think about how you use your current kitchen, the good and the bad. Will a Butler’s Pantry enhance the good and remove the bad? I’m very much looking forward to my future walk in pantry but have spent many hours considering how I will use it. I won’t be doing daily food preparation in there. For me I’ll have a large storage area, some open shelves and a large bench space with all my appliances plugged in and ready to go. The two of you won’t make much mess to be concealed from each other, and when family are there I’m assuming there are more people in the kitchen so bench space is more important that the Butlers. But only you know how you live and cook. PS. I love Studio McGee also, season two of theirs is due out soon.
