Hi Melanie, The timber look floor tiles being produced at the moment are absolutely amazing. Our range of technical porcelain timber tiles are called PAR-KER and are produced by Porcelanosa in Spain. These floor tiles are incredibly durable, and once installed, require no maintenance whatsoever. They are scratch and stain resistant, require no sealing, have a high acid and chemical resistance - and look beautiful! I used to have tiled floors at the old place ..the whole downstairs was tiled ( lounge, study, living room , kitchen, laundry) terracotta ones..not cold at all contrary to what people think .. the kids loved riding their trikes around the house as it was massive open living space 36 squares in all. we had a wool rug where the living area was so kids can lounge around.. I find tiles are easier to maintain than floor boards.A quick vacuum and mop is all it needed and it hid the dirt well..whereas floor boards collects dust and hair etc.. Timber floorboards are nice to look at..the floating /laminate looks cheap and nasty I'd rather tiles instead.

Go with your gut kaz :) I think some tilers can offer great suggestions - personally, I didn't have a very good experience with our last tiler so we ended up paying him for work done - only to have the job completed by someone else. The first tiler was very unprofessional, condescending, rude and belittled my hubby's choice of tile, grout, layout - you name it, everything. He was very moody, hot headed and showed up hungover and vomiting off our deck - UGH!!! Fifty shades of gross!!!! I didn't think it quite right that my young son and I should have to walk around on eggshells around him while my hubby was working away in Brisbane so in the end, he was paid - we said thanks and goodbye. To save any kerfuffle this end - we never told him what the issue was - just that something cropped up for us - we didn't need the drama. The tiler that finished the job for us was lovely, professional, competent and gave great suggestions :) Couldn't have asked for better. Hopefully that's not the feeling you're getting from your tiler - but if you have any red flags going up - go with someone else :) I'd love to see photos once the job is done :) Hopefully one of the pro's will come on here and offer their opinion kaz so you can be sure :)

I've been playing around with a pantry location. Originally, I was going to move the pantry into the laundry with some custom shelving and cut the laundry space in half. Now, Im thinking of cutting into the study area and building a wall there, and converting the new space into a long and narrow walk in pantry. Either that or build half a wall and put built in shelving in the study. Building the extra wall will reduce the need to cover in the door way that is currently in place and instead utilising it. Thoughts? p.s. this isnt too scale.
