Hi Catherine, There's no rules and you should go with what you feel comfortable with and what your budget will stand. Personally (and this is strictly because cleaning grout is at the very top of my top ten things I hate cleaning) I'd go for bigger tiles on the walls - but you can really do anything (think about playing with how you lay your tiles too - placing them on the diagonal can make the space feel bigger. For the vanity mirror - you could do anything you like - even a full wall mirror which might (depending upon what it's reflecting add to the illusion of space). Just have fun and go with what you like.

Hi, so sorry... new to this website and cannot figure out how to make a new comment (not tied in with anyone else's post) so that Two's Company renovations sees it! 20 mins searching still hasn't helped figure it out! Thanks for the input! do you think that subway or 6x6 tiles would be better in the shower? Im not sure why but i was thinking that the 6x6 might be more consistent with the style of the basin. Dark blue or light blue for the accent tile in niche? Its a VERY small bathroom which was why I was leaning towards white floor. Trying to make it feel bigger. But maybe thats an error. This is the floor tile that I was considering. Too busy? I have to admit I like the dark blue tile of the last photo that Dreamer posted alot but was worried that a dark color would not work in a small space.

One thing to watch out for with top mounted basin bowls is what your wall covering/splashback is behind it. If you are doing a mirror or tiles down to the vanity, have them installed before the bowl, otherwise sealing the mirror/tiles with silicone after is really difficult and you risk getting a poor seal where it is most critical.
