Do you have a photo or plan?

Thought I had attached a house plan. I am attaching a plan saved on my computer but it is not appearing here. May need some tech help??

Belleran, select 'Your Houzz' and there will appear several line choices. Select 'Upload photo or file' and follow the prompts. Have you already tried doing this?

From there you can Upload your photo or file into your Ideabooks. You may want to create a new ideabook for just this plan. Let me know how you go and I'll try to help further.

When I click on 'Upload photo or file' a message appears asking if I want to leave this site.

Hmmm, that's odd. I use an IPad not my computer so I haven't experienced what you describe. Sorry that's happening. May I suggest you go to bottom of Houzz page and select the 'Contact Us' so you can ask for specific help from a Houzz technician? Best wishes. Sorry I cannot be more helpful.

when it asks me to upload, the image uploaded appears black rather than the floor plan

Okay. Did you complete the whole upload process? I know when I upload photos they appear upside down at first, then they adjust correctly once I complete the process. I know this is different to what is happening with your plan, but just see what happens when you complete the process.

If all you get is a black image, then I do not know the reason, but it may have something to do with the type of file not translating properly, and I don't know how to deal with that. Try contacting Houzz via their site and I think you may get speedy assistance.

Hi there , just start to make a comment below this one, click on photo and you will be able to go to the file that you have the photo in, double click as you do when attaching to an email, should work.

sorry you seem to be having so much trouble, what type of file is your photo jpeg?

The same principal is used to do this is as you would attach a file/photo to an email. 1)click into the comment box below 2) click on photo (not Houzz Photo). 3) your computer will show home page and you will need to go to where you have stored the photo. 4). Example say you have it a file called photos, open that file and double click on the photo you wan to up load, good luck

Apparently files need to be jpeg not pdf so have uploaded again and voila, success! My issue is placement and sizing of furniture including wall and floor decor in family and lounge rooms. Note the pergola extends to the eastern wall of the family room which isn't what the plan shows.

So is the eastern wall of family room the wall with two windows? This does seem to me a good location for the TV. I'd suggest mounting it to the wall if this is an option for you. How many people do you require seating for in this room?

Would a corner lounge interest you? If so, one could possibly be positioned on the opposite wall with the short section along short southern wall. Measure the walls and carry a tape measure so you can measure any furniture while you are shopping. You can also search online; most suppliers have specifications showing the exact dimensions of the pieces.

If a coffee table would be an issue for traffic flow from family room to outdoor area, perhaps consider 2-3 small occasional tables that work well together design-wise.

This photo may give you a better idea. We are empty nesters but often entertain our large family so are keen for adequate seating. As you will see from the floor plan the room is 6m x 4.7m. Currently has a large worn out chaise facing the TV. Could replace with same but wondered whether some other more conversational configuration would be better. Currently wearing my long distance glasses to view the TV which is 51cm in size. The distance from wall to doorway opening is 2.6m.

Ok thx for that info. I think a conversational setting might include a hard-wearing quality leather sofa and 2-3 comfortable armchairs in a complementary quality fabric. Extra seating might include an ottoman and occasional chairs which could be pulled into the room from, say, the dining room. A large coffee table and a couple of side tables should fit well in this room. I don't know if a nest of tables suit your style, but they have the advantage of space efficiency as well as being very useful.

what type of flooring do you have in this room and the adjoining rooms? Do you want an area rug?

Yes need a large rug to give the room some warmth and relief from the white tiles.

The chaise chair on the right needs to be replaced (hidden by a child's easel atm). The accompanying ottoman can be reused and recovered if required. The blue lounge near the door has a partner in another room of the house so there are 2 of those.

Also the TV unit is too small for the large TV in the sense that it is a bit out of proportion.

It's a lovely room, my husband has to sit a bit closer to our TV these days.

You could use your blue lounge, ottoman, move the TV to the other wall with long narrow storage below and possibly a desk with storage on the other wall. Have the ottoman closer to the TV for extra seating or trays, this will allow a passage way through to the Alfresco. cheers

You can easily use the blue sofa you already have, recover an ottomon and incorporate another armchair or two. These pieces are just to give you ideas. Dimensions are also shown.

There is a sliding door opening to the carpeted lounge room just below the meals area to consider. At the moment the chaise lounge goes up to the doorway leaving a passageway and the chaise part of the lounge runs under the window. You have managed to make a 2 purpose room with the computer area but we already have a computer room/study. Also was wanting more seating available without crowding the space - maybe 8. I am getting difficult :)

If I kept the TV on the same wall as it is at the moment would it be possible to fit a 2 x 2 seaters in the room as well as a chaise or a 2 seater and single chair if the room remains as a single use area?

Thanks for the furniture pics. All helps. As there were no pics of chaises do I presume you don't think that style would be as suitable as a standard 3 seater & 2 seater lounges?

Hi belleran. The pics of sofa were only to show you options. If you prefer a chaise, that's entirely your decision. Personally, I had thought of a corner lounge and additional arm chairs, to give you more options.

is this room used only for TV viewing r would I be used for reading as well? I noticed there are no lamps in the room.

Sometimes a room containing only couches looks overwhelmed, which is by Imlike to break it up with a sofa, or two, and single arm chairs. Plus armchairs fit easily in spaces a sofa cannot.

This last one you might be able to use both blue sofas with the ottomans and a couple of casual wicker arm chairs. Family/kitchen/meals opening to the pergola alfresco area. I would still wall mount the TV with a low narrow storage below to fit in between both windows As annb said a couple of lamps, one on the cabinet between the sofa's and a floor lamp next to the arm chair closest to the alfresco for reading. You can add side tables but don't over do it, too many things to trip over and walk around, at least the ottomans are soft to fall on. cheers

Do like these layouts. The current blue lounge is too long to fit beside the external door opening neatly but another 2 seater would work. I don't have any lamps yet but can purchase and a pot plant somewhere.

Do you have any single arm chairs, what size are the blue lounges, Lamps will be lovely not really necessary to have a plant as your room looks out onto the alfresco area which shows lots of plants and greenery cheers

No single chairs (yet). The blue lounges are 100cm deep by approx 198cm long. I did place them adjacent one another to see if I could have that configuration but the one against the external wall extended past the door opening and it just didn't look right. So I presumed a cnr sofa with the short side against the external wall or sofa with chaise would probably be the best option. It is possible that I could get a 2 seater but would have the challenge to make sure it complemented the three seater rather than clash. There appears to be more choices for rhf sofas than lhf.

You can get them that can be L or R which might be a good option for you, the corner chaise part is like a large foot stool, we used to have one. What is the three seater like?

It is the blue one in the picture against the external wall with the throw over it. It is more like a 2.5 seater as it is 198cm long. Bought from Freedom about 10 years ago
