Thinking about a pool, but don't know where to put one or what design
Comments (18)Yes - there are these amazing options to have an 'electric pool cover' with a slat arrangement that allows you to virtually walk on it. Do a google search...'pool covers electric'... I've no idea on how much they cost... Here's some pics. Not sure if irregular shapes make this too challenging... Our pool experience... We are needing to change a few things with our pool already - wish we had paid more attention to the pipes and filtration... (Having to potentially move them as they are too shallow and in 'awkward spot'... Extra $ and I'm so worried it may cause issues for us... Even the location of the concrete slab for the pump... Wish we had thought about overall picture... If I was buying a car for $70k, I would have done more research, but somehow we got carried away with idea that we could have a pool for summer, and yet reality is that it's ready for the 'next summer'... Budget plan (original) was around $30-40k, but I guess it's like building a house... Plus it's all a big learning experience......See MoreHelp! With house design.
Comments (15)Thanks oklouise, kids bedrooms done essentially have to have walk in robes, could be double cupboards ect just need loads of storage. I was thinking a minimum of 3.5x3.5 for kids rooms. I'm not fussed on the size of study just enough for there to be computer/ storage for act and crafts, could even double as small toy room till kids are older. Access through lounge would be ok, I would have to talk to my partner for his thoughts. The garage must be at least 6.5x 6.5. Laundry needs a lot of storage and bench space. I have parrots so incubators/baby parrots and food will also be kept in there. Kitchen needs a walk in pantry but not that keen on a butlers, has to be good for entertaining I cook a lot for myself and others for work. I also have a lot of cooking appliances. So overall the house needs lots of storage haha. I'm under strict instruction that nothing can be kept in his 18m x 18m shed haha....See MoreBathroom renovation for small space
Comments (47)Everything is a compromise. The compromise in your home is that your bathroom space was created without a toilet in mind. Personally if the need for a second toilet in a house isn't that great that I wouldn't create a cramped bathroom in the name of it. Here's your choices. Extra toilet in the bathroom and shower over bath. Extra toilet in the bathroom and freestanding shower only. Renovate your bathroom as is and cope with one toilet in the house. I would weigh up how often you actually have a need for 2 toilets. Is it common that someone is waiting for the toilet in your household? If not, then it's probably something you could live without. Houses were created with powder rooms to over come the issue of the toilet being unavailable when someone is showering. They weren't really created because there are so many people needing to use one that multiples are needed to be used at the same time....See MorePeninsula kitchen design question
Comments (7)really depends on how you like to work and what you like and don't like about your existing kitchen but with a similar dilemma our decision was to have a base cabinet with open shelves opposite the end of the peninsular, the DW in the peninsula to ensure better access to corners and all corner cabinets are 1050 x 1050 with 450 wide doors (not standard 900) and because we didn't want more knee/stool space the peninsula counter is only 750 deep instead of 900 and feels less overwhelming in the small room while still allowing plenty of counter space for two stools and extra cabinets accessed from the dining room side...we also made the stove side counter 70cm deep and wall cabinets 350 deep and the extra storage and counter space is very welcome without being obvious...another option for you could be to include the fridge along the stove side and use 450 deep tall or base and wall cabinets all along the wall where you now have the fridge...See MoreSunfish House
