I don't drink...but just for the decorator touch, if I had that fridge and that space, I'd get the calssiest alcohol shelving and fill it with the most elegant bottles available......suppose the real thing would cost a mint...so I'd hunt for the bottles and fill them with the appropriately coloured liquid...food colouring dye and water ought to do it. Maybe just one real bottle....my brandy for the upset tum. What a good idea!

Thank you so much for your advice, in particular to bigreader and Julie Herbert. Here's a photo but note Im awaiting all that timber to be removed and daughter yet to sweep up the potting mix. I tried a blue one on each side as well but it didn't look quite right. I actually think 2 on each side might be enough. Note, in the big pot on left is a ground cover that will sprawl and out and done pot all going well. Do you think/Any suggestions for anything else I could do in this area? I'm still getting used to colour of mat. Now for the back door. Ive put some pots there that I had painted a light grey. Im wondering if they dont provide enough contrast with deck. Your thoughts? I was going to put a buxus in the one on the right (purely because they're are numerous in garden I can poach).

Hi Kate - Unfortunately, we have had a lot of issues with non-compliance with building regulations and non-compliance with the BCA/NCC, with the property next door (very, very long story) and have had quite a lot of contact with the questionable building surveyor for this site. They have deliberately dropped the landing down to a height that is just below 80cm (as the landing will be just a few metres from our habitable rooms and secluded private open space) while the door itself is over 80cm (this is allowed according to Council and the Victorian Building Authority). Unfortunately, doors are not covered by the current overlooking building regulation (Building Regulation 84) in Victoria, but when this door is opened it looks straight into our open plan living area.
