regardless of any relaxation of rules there's nothing worse than listening to toilet noises from a kitchen, living or dining area...please share your plans to invite suggestions for alternatives

Why would you want a toilet opening into those spaces in a new build, any plan to post

Agree, I don't know what the "rules" are, but Privacy is required not an audience.
I agree with the 2 door concept. Doesn't matter whether there is a basin or not. It is still a very socially awkward position for a toilet.

It is not a new build therefore need to work with the limitations. The toilet is not directly open to the kitchen but in the dinning/study nook area. because the kitchen is open to the dinning area without "door" therefore I am asking the question.

It would even work better if the door into the WC was on the exterior wall end, can you show more of the house

thank you so how much work are you planning, is it just adding a toilet, it appears that there's a lot of living space and not much for utulities, ie kitchen laundry, I can see that it would be better to open up between Kitchen and family , Back door entry into laundry and current laundry etc turned into the WC, but it depends on how much you can spend, happy to draw this idea up for you

Don't want to change the laundry into a WC as it is directly from the front door. Also while the family area might turn into a cinema/3rd bedroom. therefore wanting the WC close to dining/living/family for easy access for guest.

Maybe look at putting toilet where laundry is and laundry off living.

what do you want to change with the renovation? it looks like the kitchen has been extended past the old back porch.. if so, what will be the size of the new room (without cabinets)??

Consider re-sale value down the track too - many people would be put off buying a house with a toilet where you are proposing.

@robandlyn, we fell in love with (most of) a house a little while ago but the toilet opened directly to the dining room. Just not something I could live with and we passed

@Kate, swap the laundry with WC means 2 toilets are almost next to each other.

The main objective is to add a toilet to this house so that visitor doesn't need to use the family bath and avoid everyone fights over one toilet.

Gloria I suggested swapping the laundry for a WC (which you won't see from the front door) yes it will be close to the bathroom but it is like having a bathroom with a separate toilet which is good except you will have two toilets , one a powder room,

There was another option. however, i am a bit concern the opening to the kitchen is a bit too small. the WC is 1.5m x 1 m

this is part of what I suggested, but if you have other plans it would help to know that to make suggestions to work with that

If you are really wanting the toilet in the family room area, then install a wall and move the laundry in there as well. You have to do plumbing work anyway, so just do a little bit extra.
Use the kitchen corner for a study area.

To get it to function properly it must have a basin, my plan indented the basin into the kitchen area in a dead corner.

And I have no problem with it being next to main bath, in fact that is where it should be outside bedroom
as it will mostly be used by residents not guests,

If you were prepared to use the doors and deck off the living room as your main entry, you could use the entry as an ensuite cum powder room. Maybe not ideal but def better than having a loo in your living area.

@kiwimills, I kid you not our neighbours house has a blue shell spa set into the floor between the kitchen and dining, it does have a pool fence though!. They bought it from an old builder who thought it was a good idea and the new owners agree and are keeping it. , At least it's not a toilet!!

This being a renovation and depending on budget for this I have reworked the existing floorplan without pushing the kitchen wall out in line with the family room. Also without knowing the aspect of the house and surrounding outdoor spaces apart from the Entrance, deck and carport.

You mention wanting a 3rd bedroom which is a great idea but using part of the family for this closes the other part of the room in plus a minimum size should be 3m x 3m.

I suggest that the living room be marked for that purpose, I have added a powder room off the entrance taking space from the living room but you could use some of the 1700 wide entrance space combined with some living room space.

Changing the current sink area into the laundry behind sliding/bifold doors, still enables you to keep the existing window to save on cost, if you wanted you could turn that into a highlight window to allow for tall broom and wall cabinets below it. The door into the kitchen should be glass or have glass panels

The large island 2000 x 900 has 3 x 600 drawer units plus a 400 slide out rubbish unit.,

With this floor plan you end up with a large kitchen dining family room filled with light which you can add a study desk along the dining wall, The other suggested study desk is within the existing living . This open plan space allows for viewing of the TV from all aspects.

Just my thoughts.

Without over loading the plan, the distance between the 900 Island and wall is 1m, Island to bench 1100 and Island to laundry Euro cupboard 1200

And if you did push the kitchen wall out and keeping a small porch at the steps

You are welcome. The first example has limited changes swapping kitchen sink for laundry, and laundry plumbing for kitchen, or kitchen sink in the Island adding a Powder room will be more involved in any position depending on what was used for the build ie floor and access under building

The second layout is just to show you what is possible by pushing the kitchen wall out and using a simple skillion roof over that. I wish you well with whatever you do.
