Our kitchen is a similar size and layout. We have about 3.2 m x 6 m (not counting the butler's pantry, which is another meter or so), and it works well for us. In fact, I find it quite large (mind you, there are only two of us). Sink is in the island, which is similar to yours in size, range is on the wall opposite the sink. Pantry, wall oven and fridge are at the end wall where you have your pantry marked.. The butler's pantry on the opposite end wall so extra storage/space for us. Where I would have concerns is the width being allotted. You've got a benchtop, a corridor between benchtop and island, and then the island - and then you need a corridor between the island and whatever furniture you have in your lounge/dining area. Our area between kitchen backsplash and opposite lounge wall is about 7.6 m; yours seems to be 6.7. If you want decent space between benchtop, island and the nearest piece of furniture in the lounge, you could be struggling a bit. Mark it all out with masking tape or cardboard boxes to see how it looks spatially. That said, I'm no pro, and there will be much better qualified people than me on here to make comments ;)

Can anyone tell me what the actual difference is between a "living" room and a "family" room? Also is a "lounge" room just another name for either one of the above? Thanks

Top up Staging is where we can utilise some of our client's existing furniture and add contemporary pieces to modernise the overall presentation and give the wow factor to the property. The below before and after pictures show the same two adjoining rooms with the client's own furniture being rearranged and adding our accessories and other pieces of furniture to create spaces with better flow and purpose. The before photos show the opening between the two rooms being blocked by a couch. We have moved the couch to the adjoining room and added two lounge chairs that allow flow between the two rooms. We also utilised the clients' floor rugs but swapped them between rooms to better suit the furniture and accessories. The items we have added have given the rooms a purpose and have tied in nicely with the owners existing pieces to create warm and welcoming spaces. Before: After:

If you keep as per plan, with a 2.6 metre wide lounge, you did say 3.5 in your original post. Then I would place the lounge in the middle of the room, and the kids toys in the bottom left. But with the west facing bifolds, are you installing any shading over the alfresco. The room will get very hot if you are not. It is basically a pavilion, since it can be completely opened up, from west to east. But in a practical sense, would you really have the bifold doors open all the way? You know how you live, so you would know. Maybe later on you could have a pool table in there for the teenagers and their friends. And a fridge for drinks.....
