Seeking help with cushion colours
Any suggestions appreciated selecting cushion colours to compliment a new artwork in my TV room to brighten up this area. Was thinking 2 cushions per couch - mix of square and oblong (husband not keen on too many cushions). Prefer to create a casual vibe and to avoid the pinks in the artwork - maybe focus on mustard/olive green and perhaps a textured boucle in an ecru colour. But maybe there are better options. There is also a wooden sideboard in the room with a TV above. Note - budget does not allow changing the black couches - we find these very comfy and practical.

2 years agoI would choose cushions with cream, rust, black and mustard colours. Similar to photos attached. This is to bring some texture into room, and blend in with the black lounges, orange tv unit and cream in artwork. Also install some sheer linen curtains to cover the blinds. Maybe a cream or black textured ceramic vase or two and place on tv unit in a rattan tray to add texture and interest.

Comments (3)If the different windows can be seen at the same time from the front that would look really odd. If at the side or the back I think you could live with that. It is possible to paint frames (even aluminium windows), I'm sure you could find someone locally to do it. Comments (16)Hi there, I would be inclined to bring the green inside to complement your foliage outside. I can see you have a patterned cushion with some green on it. If you decide to buy the cushions and you like the patterned green one, simply take the cushion along with you and try complementary colours. Maybe teal or lime to lift the sofa. Comments (5)I see what you mean with the mirror, maybe a large light canvas artwork would be more suitable using the command hooks, I think if you pick up the blue in your rug you can choose another rug to go in couch area, you don’t need to match it pattern wise, looks beautiful to have different rugs in similar toning maybe think about the lamps also with your little one , don’t want to topple over onto them, maybe artwork, luxury cushions and throws and plants in a low heavy pot that won’t tip over could look beautiful until you feel safe to add them, love your furniture....See MoreKate
2 years agoThanks Julie - you are so helpful and creative. I'm towards the end of decorating a new build home and wish I had your eye for design (I am really struggling with this last bit - just the guest room to go) ! I really like the colour combo you have suggested and the table lamp and throw (I have been given a lovely alpaca throw in a cinnamon colour).. I have found the following cushion combos online. The first uses a combo of Weave and Newline brand cushions (Boucle Ovis Ecru) and the second uses all Newline cushions (a tad more budget friendly as Newline have a 30% sale ATM). Would you mix shapes for the accent cushions (i.e. square and oblong))? Newline square cushions are 50 x 50 and lumbar are 30 x 50 whereas Weave square cushions are 50 x 50 and lumbar are 40 x 60. Alternatively should the second accent colour be rust (rather than khaki) as per the feedback above to tie in with the TV unit? A rust cushion is a bit more tricky to find with Weave cushions. Maybe there is another brand I should check out? Your thoughts greatly appreciated. Have a great evening. xx

2 years agoThis is a good graphic (from Pintrest) for when you don’t want too many cushions on the couch. For reasonably priced covers look at Etsy, Spotlight and IKEA, plus Provincial, Adairs , Freedom and Pillow Talk. You may even find some at Kmart. For good quality inners at a low cost you can’t beat IKEA.

2 years agoThe Newline cushions are beautiful, mixing shapes adds a great look, 50x 50 for square, 30 x50 oblong then you could always try a round one for added interest, I do love the khaki, Urban Road have a sale on, but I think Newline will give you great advice, show them a photo of your artwork , it’s a gorgeous piece, they will have suggestions for you. Your cinnamon throw will work with khaki beautifully. Love the solid colours, think it could look nicer thank adding a pattern.
