Sorry, can't quite visualize the juxtaposition. A couple of pictures or a floor plan would help. What kind of a gap are you referring to? 15 x 12' ish is a fair size room. Are there any windows in that space? Do you need another bedroom, a crafts room, bathroom with walk in closet, office/study, library / family room, studio? What are your interests? Personally I would love to have extra space for a painting studio and or some where of my own just to relax and meditate, do yoga etc.!

Hi there, I really like what you have there. You have many options that will require little work to make this space wok beautifully. Agree with Brilliant Ideas and Kerry - changing the mirror position and adding a hanging feature like a pendant will make a lot of difference already. From what I can guess looking at your image, even a slim table would fit better under the mirror on the other wall. In addition, you can include another hanging feature higher to make the ceiling look more interesting. E.g. 1 or 2 spotlights, hanging plants as simple as a Spanish moss. After that, is just dressing the furniture with small decor. Personally, I like clean, relaxed and easy to maintain spaces. Not sure about the correct colours, but here are some ideas for you: Light pendant to match your mirror colour and dining set style. Spanish moss can be hanged with a small hook. Minimum care required. Slim table - you can use a chest of drawers like this one... Slim table - or go for something a little different if you don't need extra storage... imo the biggest challenge/cost would be removing all those big solid walls, changing doors and windows and repairing ceilings and not the extra plumbing (new bathrooms and kitchen cabinets, fixtures and appliances cost the same regardless of the extra few metres of pipes) and a new location can make the most of the available space but it can sometimes be more cost effective to add an extension rather than attempting to squeeze too much into an existing building but you need an engineer, builder and plumber to give expert advice on site ... better not to assume that one option is better than another but collect a variety of ideas and ask for quotes to compare actual prices but do you have a realistic budget? i would expect to pay at least $50,000 for a modest new kitchen and bathroom in the same locations before removing any walls or adding an extra bathroom and new laundry and the combined ens/wiw is too small and would be better to have a good sized ensuite with biw and there's not enough space for a bigger island without compromising space in the family dining area...there are so many different options but we need more info...are there any good or bad views, what is the length and width of the block, is there a garage, is there car access into the back yard, what is the distance from the house to each boundary, describe your climate, where is north on the plans, how many steps are there from the back and front doors to the ground, does the block slope and in which direction, how much headroom is under the house and in the roof space...is there any potential for an upstairs, downstairs or an extension into the backyard?

if you like the new furniture it it will match your style and if it's your taste in your home it will look great but another option could be bookshelves (eg shorter across the whole wall or just under the TV in the middle and tall bookshelves at the sides) in similar coloured timber or black like the TV or wall or architrave colours with or without doors (check IKEA Billy for inspiration) but depends on what you would like to store (and keep in mind that natural timber all have colour variations and if you check your dining chairs and table you will see colour variation despite being made out of the same timber)
